Apparently it all started as a result of the 1990s civil wars. Wikipedia has a decent article on the recent issues with it.

But again, I do feel similar to yourself -- it is as if it came out of nowhere and suddenly asserted itself as an issue.

I am sure Islam has offered a lot of great to the world though there are passages in the Koran, correct me if I am wrong, that permit a Muslim to lie to a Christian in certain circumstances and to even exert a special tax from non-Muslims.

What did you learn of these laws? Certainly there is diversity but... IDK. I am skeptical.

It is really a beautiful statement -- and you are right, a lot of McCain voters at other times looked foolish. Naturally, the clip of the old lady referring to Obama as an Arab or the clips of conservatives in rural Ohio making generally racist comments were well circulated throughout the web but Howard Stern's interviews with Obama supporters made it nowhere...

I was excited, though, to see this referenced on a major news medium this morning.

I do not think the golden rule is the core of Islam -- apparently, Muslims are allowed to lie to non-Muslims and treat them in all sorts of unfair ways.

I also like the quote from there: ""If we do not achieve this, it seems unlikely that we will have a viable world to hand on to the next generation."

Comical.

It's not as if we've ever even come close to fulfilling this before yet the world keeps getting handed down.
