The Bitbag : Davis Weekly 11

first off, i'm really looking forward to the new structure planned for the warzone this coming friday, it better be worth skipping the last one for. :P 10 bucks says the show will go on for 3 hours. :) secondly, the ninja gaiden comparison you did was a bit shady imo, due to the fact that off-screen footage always adds extra layers of saturation, therefore resulting in a much higher res image, especially lighting and texture wise. comparing any multiplatform 360 game and ps3 game in this way, would always make them both look the same. using direct-feeds is the most reliable method of comparing the 2 versions of anything. thirdly, don't let the fanboy BS get to you, as you say "opinions are like assholes...". it's rather entertaining at times(but annoying at others) at how stupid some people can be, when it becomes too much, just go into silent mode and leave the jackasses to bray, eventually they'll learn, and if they don't, then f**k'em. afterall how can you get mad at after watching a video like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOTlnaxVJQU&fe... it's entertaining, look at how much energy he puts into it.(skip to 2:14) :) and lastly, imo, when it comes to driving physics(handling wise) in a game, GT5P is 2nd to none, the only thing it lacks is damage. let's wait till GT5 releases before we make any judgement calls, afterall they took extra time to work on the game's damage physics, that's why it won't be releasing this year. and tor since the warzone is gonna be "shorter", bring back davis dailies. :) anyways, take care tor, and hang in there(you looked a bit beat in that video) get some rest.

The Bitbag : Wii HD Is Here Thanks To Sony PS3

not a bad article at all. sony's motion controller surely does have a lot of potential, and much more so than MS's and nin's offerings, especially since being an advanced combination of both. one thing though that i often see people say that tickles me the wrong way, is the notion that for a game to be hardcore it must have a mature rating. take a game like tetris, or columns, these can be pretty damn hardcore, it just depends on the player. anyways, keep up the good work hiphop. one luv and God bless, peace. :)

you are mixing things up. i'm STRICTLY discussing the graphics of U2 and RF, not their creativity or likeliness of winning GOTY. "If you really wanted to get technical, nothing can touch the Geomod engine anyways" oh please, that gimmicky engine(just like the one used in fracture) doesn't do proper physical deformation, it's all scripted destruction with a little variety, within very confined parameters. it is far from being the most technical anything. but it is different. "If you want to pick your GOTY because it has more polygons, high res textures, better looking animation(still very subjective), blur, dof, wind(all in Red Faction) and lighting, that is YOUR choice and is still not technically better, but technically different and used in a way to create the art style." not once did i say that my choice of GOTY is based purely on graphics, that's far from the truth. however, your "not technically better, but technically different and used in a way to create the art style." argument is very clever, i can't refute that. i still maintain though, that from a strictly graphical standpoint, U2 is definitely superior to RF apart from the pc version running @ max settings native 1080p 8xAA 60FPS. ;) let's call it quits for now and wait till U2 releases in october and see if you change your mind then.:)

that's different tor, that is about personal preference. just like art style and visual aesthetics. for me, i see graphics as more of a quantitative measure independent to art style and other subjective themes. afterall isn't it fair to say that ghostbusters is graphically better on the 360 than ps3?! and this is independent to the art direction and other subjective visual themes.

BTW, it's great, i just got into the U2 multiplayer beta today.:) it looks gorgeous. i can't freaking wait to see the single player.

"I bet you can't point out one single thing Uncharted 2 does better than Red Faction. Touche! Before you answer, wha'ts 'better than'? I can do this all day buddy. I'm fucking fired up too! Let's go! " clever trick tor, reversing my question, but i'm ready for you. brace yourself.lol 1 first of all, the character animation system in uncharted 2 is at least a generation gap beyond that of RF. 2 texture resolution and shading in uncharted 2 is way higher than RF 3 post processing effects such as motion blur, depth of field, wind effects, etc etc are also better than that of RF. 4 the lighting and shadowing in U2 is better than RF. 5 U2's characters and environments comprise of way more polygons that RF. now i have submitted the above 5 graphical things that U2 does better than RF from the top of my head, i'd love to see you post a list of 5 things RF does better than U2. physics was even added to the sound so that things occlude properly in U2, a feature most definitely absent in RF.

"Graphic fidelity is a technical benchmark. It has nothing to do with how someone views the graphics of a game. If you can't see the beauty of Red Faction, then that's your personal opinion, not mine." lol. how in the world can you say that graphical fidelity has nothing to do with how someone views the graphics of a game? that makes no sense at ALL. if you say that the art style or visual aesthetic of red faction is better than uncharted2's, then by all means you're entitled to your opinion, but when it comes to the graphics that's another ball game. aside from the destructibility gimmick used in red faction, i bet you cannot point out one single thing that red faction does graphically better than uncharted 2. animation, texture resolution, post process effects, lighting, polygon counts, use of pixel, vertex and geometry shaders, particle effects, specular highlights, etc etc etc. ps: your first link gives me a 404

TOR will never give a ps3 game the "game of the year award". :P for him to seriously sit there and say that red faction has the best graphics is just fucking ridiculous, and makes him lose a lot of credibility with me. i don't know if he's just saying it to be controversial, but it makes no sense at all. and graphical fidelity is not an opinion thing, it's factual, since it can quantitatively be measured. http://www.eurogamer.pt/videos/uncharted-2-among-...

it's not about proving you wrong, it's about proving you mule headed. why the fuck do you have a problem with people calling it subHD, afterall won't it be fair for someone to consider 240p to be subSD, the prefix "sub" is just to simply state that it's below the standard. it is a stupid argument indeed, you're trying way too hard to be pedantic, but failing due to flawed reasoning. alright tor, i'll stop giving you a hard time now. :P BTW: how is the bubble number next to our names determined?

hey tor, i don't think you understood my post, you said: "Wouldn't 480p be sub-HD by your definition?" which is wrong, because i said "just because there isn't a formal term for a resolution(x) of 576<x<720 doesn't mean that the term sub-HD is invalid" i.e. i defined subHD to be less than 720 and more than 576. (i know i put 525 before, sue me.:) 576 is for us over here in the UK(pal), and 480p is for you yanks(NTSC) and now you propose that "if Sub-HD is below HD and you need an HDTV to view 600p content, then how is 600p not HD?", very poor reasoning/logic. this paltry argument is stupid, subHD is an appropriate term for 600p and you have said nothing to prove otherwise. also, i'm fully aware that if i connected my pc to my old trinitron SDTV, it wouldn't display 800x600, i wasn't disputing that. when it comes to EDTV resolutions, 600p is just an ever so slight improvement over 576p.
