Big Hollywood : 'The Seven Samurai' Set In Afghanistan, Starring Navy SEALs

I wrote this script in 2008, and Warner Bros told me it wouldn't "resonate". Then, about ten days ago I posted it to Amazon Studios (they have the option on it for 18 months). Now Christopher McQuarrie is making a premature announcement, without studio backing (apparently) so he can get ahead of the competition, namely Amazon Studios and myself. Stay posted on this story. I'm trying to get Amazon to aggressively pursue their own "Seven Samurai" project, and this one without Tom Cruise. jimlion@pacbell.net

Big Hollywood : Parents Need To Stop Blaming Hollywood and Take Responsibility

The parents who blame Hollywood are probably also the same ones who take responsibility for their children. This particular harangue left me cold and indifferent.

"Ben Hur" has to be number one. "The Robe", "The Passion of the Christ", "Braveheart", maybe "Sergeant York", if it qualifies.

Big Hollywood : Who Is John Locke?

Hucbald, please keep it coherent. If you disagree with him, say so. If you think he believes there's a Marxist conspiracy, say so. Don't tell him he made a claim he didn't make. Don't you want people to take you seriously?

Big Hollywood : Do The Warhol—Part 1: The Business of Vision

I'm under the radar and working on a project that fits what you're talking about - a TV series actually - but have scant idea where to go for funding. Any suggestions?

Big Hollywood : Heroic Hollywood: Thinking Inside the Box

Russ,This was really good. I'm e-mailing it to my screenwriting friends. I wonder, could you address how these boxes might apply to TV shows? Presumably some boxes would remain in place during the entire life of a show, and some boxes would be specific only to a particular episode, or group of episodes, depending on the kind of show.I'm still hoping "Global Village Idiot" will find a home somewhere!!

Big Hollywood : What Happens Next on 'Lost'?

I'm betting that the two guys on the beach in the opening scene of the season finale are the two angels (cherubim) who were supposed to guard the entrance to the Garden of Eden (the island). One of them, Jacob, has broken the rules by admitting humans back into the Garden. The other wants to kill him because of it. Richard Alpert, he who never ages, probably ate fruit from the Tree of Life, which we'll find out grows somewhere on the island.
