Alot of defenders are not quick such as Turner. Tomkins is young and good in the air like, he does lack pace i admit that but then you have to question why with two slow centre backs we decided to play a higher line in some games. ( wolves where we were abysmal.) I do agree Da costa should have played instead but at the beginning of the season he was really bad, maybe he needed his time in the reserves. I also agree that Tomkins should not be first choice next season but you have to see that he is a talent and he will have a bright future. He could be loaned to the likes of blackpool and have some first team time, whilst not costing us points. His potential is still huge and think about it would you have played well next to Faubert who wonders off and looses his man, Upson who has been shocking this season and specs who is frankly shit. Tomkins deserves more credit for his season, it was only towards the end that the pressure got to him and before that he was the most composed defender we had. That is purely down to his work rate and the fact he simply is not a winger, if we cant play him in the right position then cash in on him. I also agree that collison is not a winger but if you replace him with faubert then we have a headless chicken, at least jack has a head on his shoulders. in both formations i have tried to play people in their correct positions, however it is impossible. we dont even have a starting 11 who fit together as they should. I could write a list of players i think we should sell which i know people wont agree with but at the end of the day there is a reason we finished where we did. we have a weak starting 11 and if we get an injury we have a championship side. Everyone not in this team I would consider dead wood and even three of the player in this 11 I consider to not be good enough for the prem. 433- what I think suits all the players better green behrami, upson, Tomkins, ilunga collison, parker, noble stanislas, cole, diamanti I don’t like this formation but it allows players to be in their better positions. We have major problems but the structure of a team with a spine of green, upson, parker and cole is solid. The players around them need improving and I would say our bench is a miss match of players not up to the task of prem survival. It is worrying to see how bare the team really is if you try and use a 442 and don’t play anyone out of position. He is a great player to have, but he is a luxury. He needs time on the ball and is very hit and miss. This would be the first move the davids would have made to actually silence critics. I have bemoaned the way they have acted in the media and feel they produce lies in order to get fans onside. This would be a great signing and show that they do have a vision for the club. I know he has been suffering with injury but I don’t think it’s a recurring problem. The other news today was very contradictory with several papers saying that Behrami and Diamanti have been told to find new clubs, with skysports showing an interview from Behrami’s agent saying he is going nowhere. Personally I don’t think Behrami has ad a good season and his decision making in the final third is shocking. He is a right back and if he isn’t played as one I can see him as deadwood. I unfortunately also think diamanti has been played out of position to and unless we keep him as a striker we shouldn’t keep him. The are both also assets who has admirers and it is well documented the davids will sell, we could get good money to invest in players with a hunger and a want to develop under our new manager, whoever he may be. Man U lost this weekend and they are a one man team, their defence is not what it used to be. I believe we could get something. Tomkins is looking like a player who has been around a lot longer. Faubert has learned to defend better or has at least learned that if you attack more you can win over fans, I think his improvements have needed Tomkins. The two are learning together and how the other plays. Upson was not an international quality defender and he hasn't been for weeks, he needs to commit his future and realise the fans deserve 100%. Both tomkins and Faubert should be proud today and in fact for their whole season. I wont go onto the rest of the team but they look far more solid, a left footer on the left and a right footer on the right with 2 defensive central figures is the correct way forward. Cole is international quality and we need to progress next season to make him stay. Franco has been a revelation and plays above the level we all thought he qould be at.
