The Joyful Housewife : About Me

Thanks, Carrie. I'm glad you found me too! I've been reading your blog - so nice to see someone blogging about the same things.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pics of the kitchen. I like to hear that because it encourages me to keep pushing myself to blog honestly with more messy photos!

You seem to be pretty honest on your blog too. I really feel that's the whole point of doing it - to demonstrate to others that none of us are perfect, we're just doing our best to figure this life out!

Cheers!

Yeah, I try to remember that it\\\'s not so great being a compulsive cleaner - but they get to enjoy the clean house!

That\\\'s great! Actually, your post is inspiring me to get my butt in gear. We have decided to get rid of our old dining room table and turn that room into a better home-office. Stay tuned for before and after pics. :)

Thanks, Lauren!

I\\\'m thrilled that you like the tag line. I kind of wish I\\\'d named the blog \\\"Modern Hausfrau: Domestic Bliss, Eventually.\\\" But, alas, I\\\'ve already bought this domain, and moving to a new one is such a pain.

I\\\'m so glad to know that others have perpetually furry floors too. That\\\'s a confession even I have been afraid to make!

I love your blog! Thanks for stopping by.

The Joyful Housewife : Death Of A Palm Centro?

P.S. It appears to have worked! Remember that when your phone falls into water, the first thing to do is take it apart. If it is indeed wet inside - which is easy to tell, because they place a sticker inside that permanently changes color when this happens - stick the pieces in a bowl of rice. Leave it for 24-48 hours and it should be dried out.

The Joyful Housewife : Aprons Make Chores Better!

Thanks for the compliment! I hope you find a cute apron soon. I\\\'m just so impressed that my sister made this without a pattern (although the pockets are more decorative than functional. LOL!). I started making an apron three years ago, got the pockets and the lace trim on, but then got discouraged when I tried to add the waistband. I just couldn\\\'t get it to sew on securely with all the gathering. Hopefully I can finish it someday and post pictures of it. I plan to give it to my older sister for a gift.

Keep your eye out for cute old-fashioned aprons at second-hand stores. I\\\'ve gotten two from my mother\\\'s collection this year, and I have found one or two myself. I\\\'ve really become addicted to wearing them and I like to have various ones to wear depending on my mood and whether it clashes with what I\\\'m already wearing.

The Joyful Housewife : My Husband Rocks!

Carabee ~ That\\\'s so sweet! Don\\\'t just love stuff like that in a marriage?

Anne ~ Venting is definitely necessary sometimes, but I think there is a very big difference between doing so with one good friend, and making a practice of husband-bashing whenever you get with your girlfriends. There is definitely a culture of people who do that regularly.

On the other hand, you are right. I\\\'d rather get it out with friends than taking it out on my husband. If it helps me to commiserate with friends about how our hubbies constantly leave socks and underwear on the floor, and that keeps me from nagging him incessantly, then that is a good thing. I don\\\'t think nagging is good in a marriage either.

Thank you both for the comments!!!!

The Joyful Housewife : The Great Hoard Bust Of The New Year

Thanks, Storm, I appreciate the encouragement. It was a tough but rewarding two weeks. I've just returned home to my husband and dog and am working on my lesson plans for teaching tomorrow. I will definitely blog about some of the process that we went through cleaning out my the storage units, I'm just figuring out the best way to do it without infringing on my mother's right to privacy.
