Go Susan Honstein! SCFD funding for the Louisville Cultural Council dropped from $12,000 to $1500 2004-2010 because there were so many new Tier III organizations in Boulder County scrambling over a limited pot of money. This prevents cultural organizations from trying to expand their appeal to the whole community and underserves all those who pay into the SCFD fund. The grant process is tedious as well.

Sounds as though all of us who have been avoiding Folsom need to give ourselves an extra 5-10 minutes and drive on Folsom instead of letting our carbon emissions contaminate other Boulder streets.

Aren't cyclists happier with designated bike paths that are separate from cars, not having to worry about cars turning through or across the bike lanes? Folsom is a major thoroughfare that was crowded before this redesign. Now 19th & 28th are more crowded and no one seems happy with Folsom, not drivers nor cyclists.

I have an idea for Folsom: sidewalks on either side of the street, one for pedestrians and one for bicycles. Leave the streets to the cars for which they were designed. I've been avoiding Folsom to get to North Boulder but 28th Street is certainly more crowded these days since "right-sizing," and when I do go on Folsom, haven't seen any bicycles.

In all fairness to the residents of downtown Louisville, it sounds as though the costs and amount of volunteerism required to put this on has gone beyond the capacity of the DBA, so stop pointing a finger at Marco. Vandalism, parking issues and littering had gotten out of hand for many local residents and this was the first year that the shuttle bus was available from Hobby Lobby, although it wasn't publicized or utilized enough.

Perhaps the Faire succumbed to it's own success. Perhaps other City Boards, such as the Cultural Council, could step in to help. Let's have a civil dialogue about what could be done to recreate it on a scale appropriate to the venue with a tenable amount of volunteerism from the community, not just the DBA.

It would have been nice of the reporter to check with the people he was quoting from the 0027 Facebook page before both quoting and naming them. Poor journalistic etiquette. Yes, I understand that what you put on Facebook is basically public information, even in a closed group, but that doesn't make this ethical reporting.

We're proud to be #1 city for start-ups. This tax would hurt those companies and their employees. Maybe they'll come to Louisville, where there is a nice big chunk of land available, right off of Highway 36, that could be developed for small companies.

Maybe the Mayor will go away before he can bring up this very dumb idea again.
