I think this is a great sign. The clerics are higher than the dictator on the food chain and their show of solidarity with the people in the streets is very telling. It is unknown whether the opposition candidate is truly different in his policies, but the people seem to feel he is.

Wait...its not okay to make a joke about a 16 year old, but it is okay to make the same joke about an 18 year old. The logic is flawed, because the ideology is flawed. Making jokes about any woman in this manner is not okay. Where has common decency gone? It's not on Letterman and that is for sure. I really don't find him funny and that is why I haven't watched him for years. Go Sarah...protect your children.

good for you to be involved in grassroots...I am involved, but a much smaller scale I'm sure. I am planting more than my usual garden this year. I use containers on my deck for tomatoes. We live in a farming area, so we have a good source of fresh vegies and apples in the fall. Canning is easy as long as you keep things at the correct temperatures. I am exploring pressure canning and have done ground beef so far. This weekend will be sale priced chicked breast and stew beef. I hope we have enough time to get all this done before something happens...hehe. The task is monumental, but if you space it out...it can be manageable. The equipment is the biggest expenditure. Remember...only store what you will eat and eat what you will store. Just being aware of the need to prepare helps you keep in a priority. Have fun

Great idea, I never thought of home remedies too. It never hurts to be prepared for any contingency. You are up to 1 year of storage...that is amazing. You must be storing the raw grains too. What kind of mill do you recommend? Currently, I have at least a month or 2 for my family of 5 including all preferences. I looked at the mormon food list and it is a great guide as far as amounts go (very ambitious for a beginner). I have been canning meats this month...buying on sale. There's only so much tuna and canned chicken you can handle. Anyway, thanks for the tips

It is not crazy to protect your family in case of an emergency. You have the right to do whatever you can to keep your family safe and an investment in food is no different than investing in keeping your cars gassed up. The nice thing about storing food is that it can be a major deal or a minor deal...whichever you feel you can handle. The best way to do it is to buy what you would normally eat and get double of certain things that will keep like canned goods, rice, soup mixes, baking supplies and if you know how...canning supplies. watch for sales and stock up. If it is food you normally eat...it won't go to waste.Start with a month and add on. In these troubling times, it would take a very little crisis to disrupt the food chain.

The banks, AIG, Fannie and Freddie, the car companies and he's carried out many of those threats by not allowing banks to give back the TARP funds, forces Chrystler into bankruptcy and gave the unions ownership, fired the CEO of GM etc. He is a thug in sheep's clothing. I don't believe anything we see in the markets right now as they are inflated with fake money fresh off the printing presses. My advice as a hedge against the next inflationary bubble we will see in the next year is to invest in food stores. This is a good idea for anyone to have 6 months of food stored in case of an emergency like a layoff or collapse of the economy. Store 6 months ahead and use it then replace the stores to rotate it. Insure a source of drinking water and heat if the grid goes down (filter like katahdin and a wood stove in the north). The time to prepare is now. It's not conspiratory...just protection

The roads are still atrocious in MASS considering our output of money on them. (I used to Ski all the time in NH at Loon Mtn or ski 93.) Roads are still better in NH too. It is a shame as corruption is rampant in all forms of government. State income tax going up 50%...are they crazy? There will be a mass exodus out of the state. Who can afford that? Heaven forbid they downsize to a smaller govt to cut costs. I feel better about the 6.25% consumption tax after hearing about your mess. It is coming to Mass too...it's just a matter of time. Must be close to re-election time for Deval. He'll veto it knowing they will pass it anyway...he'll look good for trying and everybody wins except the taxpayer. His gas tax hike is next and the legislature will doctor that up, so they look good too, but will still pass a hike...just not as large as he wants. HELLO...we don't want any new taxes. They cut things that will hurt the taxpayer in the government like school funding or roads instead of crazy jobs like 6 assistants for the governor or their own salaries for a part time job. NH legislators take $1,000 a year and don't even have their own office in the capitol. My kind of government
