Covenant Weekly Blog : Unity

I love the digital world and the options to communicate through so many outlets. However, when there is friction between people, we need to really ask ourselves if email, facebook or even a blog comment is really the most effective and God-honoring way to communicate. Issues, hurts, perceptions and concerns would most likely be resolved more quickly, completely, and gracefully with a nose-to-nose conversation. We would be wise to consider what we want to say and let that drive how best to say it.

Covenant Weekly Blog : Benefits of Snow

Charlie, that is exactly what my wife said about the snow! She loved it because it made us all as a family just slow down and be together w/o the hustle and bustle of the normal routine. It's amazing to consider, in light of having just finished intentionally "connecting" w/ friends and family as part of Intentional for 10 just weeks ago, just how quickly we get sucked back into the busyness of life and to-do lists and schedules and all that.

Covenant Weekly Blog : Getting Christmas

Thank you Charlie! I am reminded of how much I take for granted when it comes to Christmas; to think that there are people who genuinely don't know what it really is all about. Excited to be part of a church of intentional Jesus-followers who want others to "get it!"

Covenant Weekly Blog : Intentional for 10: Week 1

So my wife and I were discussing fasting options with our boys, and we decided as a family to fast all TV/video games/computer for 1 whole day a week. The problem came when we tried to pick which day! Can't do Sundays - that's football. I can't do Thursdays - that's Community and Leno. Kerri doesn't want to do Mondays - that's CSI. Can't do Fridays, or Wednesdays, and Saturdays are hard - so maybe Tuesday? And that's when we realized that we were trying to make it too convenient for ourselves. There's no sacrifice in convenience! There's no pain or suffering, or having to go without. We did pick a day, and it hurts.

Covenant Weekly Blog : Amazed

Amazed. Stunned. In awe. Afraid. Suddenly. These words describe an experience I haven't had in quite some time. I am currently wrestling with the fact the my life as a follower of Christ is TOO PREDICTABLE! It's too neatly packaged and I want to be blown away by Jesus. I want to be in awe, mouth on the floor. I want Jesus to literally blow us away!
