Product Reviews Net : PlayStation Move Review: PS3 move games and controller a true Wii beater

Got mine on Friday after being very disappointed with Amazon Prime pre-ordering. The sports champions games are very engaging and responsive. I'll be buying another 2 controllers soon because the experience is much better. Not cheap, but overall a great platform. For sure we'll see games that were just not possible in the past.

Ola Hugo. Obrigado pela messagem. I'm not sure what you mean by saying that the bar with value 4 is bigger than the one with value 6 (do you mean as "value" the delta?), but I can assure you the example is fully correct as of how a tornado chart for sensitivity analysis of a model should look like. There are other charts named tornado, and they are used to compare two statistical distributions. You can see examples on Peltier's pages http://peltiertech.com/WordPress/tornado-charts-a... -- from your comment I'm guessing this is what you are trying to do, and in that case, you only invert the category of one axis. For the type of tornado chart that I'm showing, only one horizontal scale is used and all the values shown by the bars are a comparison against the "base case" (7 in the example). Then you read each bar as the variation versus the base case when a parameter changes. JCM

8020world | Tools for Decision Makers : Easy creation of tornado charts in Excel - 5 steps, no add-ins

Tony - the tornado chart does not have anything to do with how simple, sophisticated, "hard coded" or flexible is your analysis. It is more about visualization of your results. Although I've seen tornadoes used in engineering/technical settings, the focus of what is presented here is managerial decision making, so keeping it simple with 4-5 key sensitivities works best *in that context* In many cases, behind one of these charts there is a deep analysis using large models, and techniques like Monte-Carlo analysis. In others, the key sensitivities are determined by experience with a few subject matter experts. At the end, what is important is to find the appropriate level of analysis to support the required decision. Hope it helps

@guillaume - You are right - the tornado shows independently the effects of each assumption. Unfortunately there isn't a one-size-fits-all for combining the assumptions. I've used Monte Carlo simulation as an effective way to show these "combined effects". That usually requires your audience to be very familiar with modeling, the particular problem, and you doing a good job at communicating the analysis in a simple way. Usually I try to "peel back" the root-cause analysis when assumptions are not too orthogonal. Conversely, when two assumptions are too coupled, I just show one of them in the tornado and verbally mention the second one, explaining why in fact they are considered together.

You are getting this error likely because the location of ascript on my example is different from yours. Try running which ascript on the terminal, so you can see where your ascript is installed.

8020world | Tools for Decision Makers : How to fix an upsized Apple TV stuck in 1.0 software

I actually upgraded the AppleTV recently to 3.0.1 with this method and it works. For some reason, ATVFlash expects a partition scheme slightly different to what my ATV currently has. So the script that worked for me was 012 fsck.hfsplus -f /dev/sda1 013 mount -t hfsplus -o rw,force /dev/sda1 /OSBoot 014 sleep 1 015 016 # if we successfully mount /OSBoot 017 if [ -f "/OSBoot/OS.dmg" ]; then 018 echo " * updating restore partition" 019 cp -f /mnt/rootfs/2Z694-6004-003.dmg /OSBoot/OS.dmg 020 umount /OSBoot 021 else 022 echo " * error updating restore partition" 023 fi The dmg was downloaded from http://mesu.apple.com/data/OS/061-7491.20091107.T...

8020world | Tools for Decision Makers : Logistic model for the s-curve and project management cost estimation

Hola Daniel - thanks for your comment. This post where you are commenting is somewhat an off-topic focused on project management and cost estimation. However, if you look at a previous post at http://8020world.com/jcmendez/2007/04/business/mo... you will see I use the s-curve for new technology adoption modeling, exactly as you ask. That post identifies the parameters, and the response to comment http://8020world.com/jcmendez/2007/04/business/mo... deals with the issue of parameter fitting (deriving the curve parameters from "real world" data). Hope it helps you, and drop me a line if it doesn't
