Because up until the point that our country instituted these policies the black population overwhelmingly voted Republican. The Dems needed a way to pull them into their power base and promising just enough in conjuction with the message that the other guys don't want to give it to you because they are racist. did precisely that.

WILLY!! Heres to speaking your mind. Truth to power bro. Some of these grown boys could learn a lesson or two as to what it means to be a real, independent, free thinking man from you.

I have an older leftist friend that basically sits around watching the University of California TV feed all day. Its a little disturbing the crap that passes for an education these days but I digress. In my life I have not heard the n word as many times as I do when I go over to sit with him. He uses it in the context of, this is how a republican thinks. It gets on my nerves. Both, because he says it all, but moreover because he defines me and my thought process that way.

Big Government : Rep. Issa Responds to ACORN's Bertha Lewis

I would agree with this. Those of us that consider ourselves conservative rather than republican are a little more interested in constitutional conservatism and less so in creating permanent power structures. The drawback is that if the left succeeds in creating their own perm infrastructure (socialized health care) then the right is at an inherent disadvantage financially. Good news is, true conservatives will always have the ideological advantage as seen by the recent upwelling of support.

The powers that be are letting her talk because they are probably trying to destroy evidence and letting her talk just diverts attention. Additionally, Bertha is the only one on record for all of this rhetoric and I would guess they are probably hoping to have a ready made scapegoat. These people have been around long enough that they would undoubetedly have a contingency plan for just such a situation.

Big Government : Two Fish, One Barrel: Deconstructing Andrew Sullivan's 'The Breitbart Standard,' Demolishing Conor

Caricaturing conservative views and then debating that basterdized version is typical tact for the left. When debating someone from the left the first major obstacle is getting their idiotic perception of my views correct. That is what happens when people get their understanding of us from those that don't understand or even like us, you know like teachers and news orgs.

Big Government : Global Warming: Your (Big) Government at Work

So, if the government outsources projects and writes into the government contract that the intellectual property garnered through the research is not owned by the government we can't see it unless they want us to. I wonder if this is a new strategy or if this has been common practice for some time to get around releasing non-classified information. Either way, it's disgusting and a complete contradiction of the administrations promise to the voters during the election. But, then again pretty much everything they have done is.

I think the commerce clause is more an issue for the supreme court. But even if it is redefined you are talking about massive implications for a lot of the things that effect our lives. For better or worse I don't know, but you could potentially be looking at massive contradictions from state to state in regard to policy and regulation not to mention the tax implications. You are correct in your assessments however, the consequences for such actions need to be considered.

Some may be bitter considering the the crap Letterman has been throwing at us for decades but one must remember that when a person falls and shows honest contrition then its time to show forgiveness. I don't know that Dave is contrite but, if he is then let him be. Don't just talk, but walk the path of righteousness.

Big Government : The New Nixon: a Coverup, Tapes, and a Modified 'Midnight Massacre'

When I was a kid, the Lake was a great place to spend time with your family, do a little cat-fishing and just generally enjoy life on the water in a boat or otherwise for what is. Only those that have done it really understand. Now it is an outlandish caricature of what it once was, a place where people in ocean liners, yes ocean liners in a freakin small lake, regularly kill those in smaller boats and children swimming off their docks with their boat wake. One of the great lakes, it is not. It really is no surprise that none of this ever really hits the news considering the political dynamic that is Missouri. You may think I exaggerate, but those that have been there know of what I speak.

The really irratating thing is that toward the end of the article he boasts of and defines ACORN as the largest community organizing group in the US with over 500,000 members. I literally shook my head at the ignorance of the contradiction. Do they not have editors over there are at the center? Apparently progress has nothing to do with continuity of logic and thought or journalistic integrity.

I guess now I understand why liberals thought the Clinton escapade with the cigar in the oval office wasn't really a big deal. From their perspective their was some real heavy and serious corruption and scandal that they were aware of and relatively speaking, I suppose it makes sense.
