I'm going to preface this by saying that I don't mean to come off as harsh or even mean-spirited. That said, I once thought it would be a good idea to look into writing for LOP as it is my favorite wrestling site and I have enjoyed many of the columns over the years. Once I found out that I would have to go through the forums/competition situation I had second thoughts. I just simply don't have the time to write things about something I love if they're not going to be published, as it were. This isn't a slight on those writing in the forums in hopes of making it to the main page. It's just a statement of fact: between full-time school and full-time work I wasn't looking for a contest, just a simple submission of a sample and an editor giving a thumbs up or down. The fact that the writers for LOP had to go through such a rigorous system to land their pieces of the main page, however, led me to believe that only the best of the best would make it thus far. It seems that assumption was wrong.

I in no way want to dissuade you from writing and I sincerely hope you are not a young kid. Writing is an excellent hobby and will only make you a more intelligent person as it gives cause for introspection. But this column and the writing contained within was severely lacking and offered the reader very little in the way of meaningful analysis or a prime example of what would be taken of "main page" material. "... the Full Sail crowd cannot stand his guts..."? "If you thought Aj was cute and sexy, then wait until you see Paige!" C'mon, man. I understand that you might have some sort of quota of columns you have to churn out but this doesn't seem like the musings of a columnist. Stay away from lists, don't mix your metaphors and give us something we can sink our teeth into. I mean this constructively. I wouldn't have wasted my time writing this if I didn't. Keep writing.

I fully understand your point. I'm saying there is no basis for your point.

"I'm very convinced that the WWE management wants John Cena vs. Randy Orton to headline at least one Wrestlemania together in a one on one match before both wrestlers retire."

Great, but why?

Strategy: Tito degrades a favorite of LOP readers in hopes of driving up page views and generating a reaction despite offering very little in the way of analysis or innovation. Zzzzzzzzzz.

Result: Your premise is flawed and the comparison is anything but apt. Even if you believe that Foley was "filler" for a money drawing Austin-Rock match (which is a tenuous theory), I find it hard to believe that anyone would think "Oh, man. I just HAVE to order Wrestlemania XXX! I mean, Randy Orton versus John Cena in a match and roles I've already seen a dozen times for the past decade? How can I give my money to the WWE the fastest?"

Rock/Austin within two to thee years of their characters catching on is NOT the same as Cena/Orton ten years after they debuted and, I'd say, five years after their gimmicks became stale. Yes, it is great that Orton is back where he belongs but that doesn't mean he is ging to draw all of a sudden. Right now, Bryan and the storyline is the money and anyone who doesn't see that should probably just stick to the "What if... Edge and Christian were really vampires?" type columns and leave the analysis to those not asleep at the wheel/keyboard.

I knew from the title of this piece that this would be your grand idea. And it is a terrible one (as most of your recent column and ideas have been as of late). The best thing that the WWE could do is nothing. In doing so they are kayfabe normalizing it and not risking it turn into what his character is. Your idea is just one "Black Goldust" shy of being the worst thing they could do. On screen, on camera the only thing that should happen is the Prime Time Players turn face (something that should have been happening anyway) and go about challenging The Shield for the straps. Off screen, off camera if D-Young wants to talk about it or become a ambassador to the LGBT community that's all fine and good. But making a big deal will just feel exploitative in the carnival known as the WWE.

Unsubstantiated speculation, yet again.

I've been reading your columns since 1998. You don't really "know" the "business" anymore than anyone else. Don't insult our intelligence. Like I said, I've read your columns for years and you've never been more irrelevant than now. To insinuate that you have some sort of access because you write an increasingly poorly written column for what amounts to a digital dirt sheet is dishonest at best.

I like how you bring up special talents as some sort of evidence that "a guy in tights" work. As if Ted DiBiase or Skip Sheffield were in that stratosphere, even as prospects, as a Steve Austin or The Rock. It takes a *special talent* to get over without a gimmick, a character, a backstory. John Cena did have a gimmick, it has just morphed into "a guy in cargo shorts". That is exactly what I was saying and that means that gimmicks are necessary for a majority of workers. What is your problem?

It is truly impressive that your arrogance allowed you to simultaneously embarrass yourself and be so condescending.

What have these workers done to deserve to be in the ring with [insert main eventer]? By God, what about THIS BUSINESS? Gimme a break. As they say, it's a work. Why would you invest weeks of vignettes and build up to spend it on a beat down of poor Zack Ryder? Who would care? Nobody, that's who. If anything Kane is a bad choice because he isn't big enough or his passe "supernatural" gimmick makes the ooky, spookiness of the Wyatt gimmick teeter on the edge of parody. For something like Swagger or even the Miz to be pushed like it was was indeed a mistake. But that was before this new HHH era where wrestlers come in as packages (The Shield, The Wyatts, Damien Sandow, Fandango, etc.) and not just "blue chipper in tights #896", Randy Orton clones (Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, The Miz, Skip Sheffield, etc.). Frankly, Tito, you're out of touch. The fact that you find it unreasonable that the embarrassing "Tons of Funk" should job to two monster hosses as a means to get said hosses over as hosses is proof positive of this. Yeah, let's look at how HHH and Foley got over... That was 20 years ago. It is a different world now. It moves a lot faster. Catch up.

"spelled it wrong"... 'spelt' is a bread. I only mention it because this was a grammar/spelling thread..

Excellent analysis of the trouble with ROH booking. They aren't in a position to get their hands on the larger names that become jarred loose (ahemMattMorganahem) and get stuck with the scraps (Matt Hardy). Therefore, they should be focusing on building the characters of and signing long term contracts with homegrown stars like Cole, Bennett, the Wolves and the Briscoes like they did with ACH. Enough with the will-they, won't-they panic with their biggest names every few months. Buckle down, squeeze every last drop out of Sinclair and make a go of this thing... Here's hoping Adam Cole takes it. Elgin is just as bland as Strong.

The only hitch is that most of the talents in NXT far surpass Warrior in both in-ring skills and cutting promos that use actual words. I'd be happy if he just ran down to the ring only to be totally blown out once he gets there. As a gag. But I think Warrior takes himself far too seriously for that.
