Commentary Magazine : Obama Channels Clinton, Not Carter

"Though his appeals for peace were addressed to the wrong side of the conflict, it just isn’t possible to ask any American president to have said more." This statement is wrong. Why can't we ask him to say more? To hold the Palestinians accountable for the bad actors among them? Is that too much? George W. Bush refused to meet with Arafat when confronted with the Karine A evidence.

If the question posed by Rand Paul was so ridiculous, it could have been summarily answered as "no," which would have mooted the whole filibuster. It wasn't, and that was the point.

Commentary Magazine : Sandy Funding is Earmark Revival

Simply saying that's how business is done in Congress is a cop out. For a country that is struggling, it's not an acceptable answer any more. I've seen the effect that Sandy has had on friends and relatives. It's awful. But that isn't an excuse for poor behavior on the part of Governor Christie, Rep. King or the Senate. Christie and King were engaging in political grandstanding designed to seem like they are doing something against the House. As I say below, the Senate deserves the derision for treating the Sandy relief bill like a Christmas tree.

Maybe you should put the blame on the Senate that made this bill a Christmas tree rather than try to solve a real problem. That's also where Christie and King should focus their blame, rather than on the House.

Try again, pal. I live in NYC and have family at the Jersey Shore that was directly affected. Yet I can see that loading up a bill with pork that has nothing to do with Hurricane Sandy doesn't solve a damn thing.

Governor Christie and Congressman King are posturing for their constituencies. The fact that they are Republicans does not excuse their behavior at all. Their actions are pure political theater, and unpleasant to watch.

I'm not sure I follow this point: "there is something unseemly about the focus on Rice and the threats to hold up her possible nomination at State." The fact that Clinton's actions warrant more scrutiny/criticism doesn't mean that Rice's nomination should be smooth sailing. There's enough wrong to go around to blame both of them (albeit for different things), as well as others in the administration.

Your claim of moral equivalence is what is objectionable. You equate those who shoot missiles at innocents (while locating the launchers among hospitals and schools) with the targets of those missiles. This argument is utterly devoid of merit.
