Big Hollywood : Petulant George Lucas Blames End of 'Star Wars' Film Franchise on Fans

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: The Miniseries, brought to you by HBO/FX/Showtime... Some big-time network that could afford the budget. Have the main character swing back-and-forth between Jedi & Sith over the course of the miniseries, in a Gollum/LOTR way, especially during the last battle with Malak.

Big Hollywood : MSNBC's Luke Russert Is Made 'Sick' By 'Call of Duty 3' Commercials: 'Doesn't Reflect Costs of War'

I heard something else very interesting from the episode of Penn & Teller's BS devoted to anti-gaming hysteria http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ7comwLPFY Skip to the 6:30 mark, and pay attention especially at the 7:00 mark when the two people are discussing the "studies" conducted on video games, violence, and children. "one of the difficults in linking violent video games to school shootings is that playing violent video games is a normal activity nowadays." "[things like GTA] are now common things" Also pay attention to the fact that since gaming exploded as a cultural medium, violent crime in the United States has dropped like a rock. The two are not related, but for this hypothesis of gaming causes violence or whatever to be true, then violent crime over the last twenty years should have exploded, when it was actually the opposite. Games are just the new D&D, heavy metal, rap, comic books, Beavis & Butthead, or whatever else society has suddenly decided is what to blame when something bad happens.

I saw it and liked it. It was great because of the role reversal. Plus there is a scene involving a free chili dog coupon in a cabin that used an old gag that I love everytime I see it.

Gaming hasn't been "kid's only" for about 15 years now. Film has everything from easy-going family events to stuff like The Godfather. Gaming is no different. And tread lightly John. Remember this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKzF173GqTU Lead to... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/26/arts/television... Important part quoted at length "Asked on the air by Geoff Keighley of Spike TV whether she had ever played the game, Ms. Lawrence laughed and said, “No.” Irate gamers have flooded the page on Amazon.com selling Ms. Lawrence’s most recent book, “The Cult of Perfection: Making Peace With Your Inner Overachiever,” sending its user-generated rating into oblivion. By Friday afternoon 412 of the book’s 472 user reviews were the lowest possible rating, one star.

Big Hollywood : Why Superhero Films Are Failing

I think in a weird way, the Green Lantern situation is a part of the reason why Scott Pilgrim failed. In Fight Club they railed against the image of the Calvin Klein pretty boy, well I think the lack of success towards GL & SP is in part a rallying cry against the image of the slacker-hero. Not having a slacker be the main character, just the image of the slacker -hero-.

Big Hollywood : Fox Network's Teen Choice Awards a Total Turnoff

"Who is on the nominating committee?" "...singers nominated this year include Cee Lo Green, performer of “F— You,” and thus we have the answer. I have Sirius and cycling through the stations I've heard three versions of that exact song. One "Forget" (Even saying "Forget You" on the Sirius display), one saying "F*** You" (even in asterisk on the display) and the third having it as letters, F.U. While it seems odd, think about the variety in something like Sirius. You have the "hardcore" version, the "radio friendly" and the "pop-punk" version. Same beast, different clothes. It's just the companies that want the exposure to wider audiences in the hopes of buying the product. If you want to see a different version of this, check video game critic Angry Joe's review of the Spike VGAs here. Same beast, different clothes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmsUk9nmIuc&fe...

Big Hollywood : Scripted Showrunners: Reality TV Means the 'End of Civilization'

Deadliest Warrior: I love military-history Scream Queens: I know it's a reality-game show but some of the challenges they made the actresses go through looked actually challenging. One of the challenges was that they had to wear a motion capture suit and try to express fear of being hunted by a killer using only body language. Face/Off: My sister loves Project Runway. This is the 'guy version'. I think it takes a higher degree of skill to create an alien or a monster.

My uncle and I were talking about what we watch on TV, and he mentioned off-hand about how bad TV is getting and I mentioned I'm barely watching anything again. My dad looked from down the table and asked "What would make you watch again?". I just looked and said "Cancel all the shows about cops, doctors, and lawyers, and we're halfway there."

Some that haven't been mentioned: Frederic Forrest as Blue Duck in Lonesome Dove. Small role but the gaze that he gives Lorena was stop-in-your-tracks. Jaws (Well the shark was a villian): Primal fury. Motivation: what nature made you to do. Dracula is a great villian: Motivation being continue his own life, and pick up some women along the way The Predator: Thrill of the hunt. I got the idea that a Predator sees an armed human the way a hunter would see an elk. Lady Eboshi from Princess Mononoke: Kill the forest spirits, they keep messing with us when we're trying to mine. Her town serves a refuge for social outcasts. Shelter the weak, treat the lepers like human beings, and kill some nature spirits... I thought it might've been a potential metaphor for how the strong subjugate the weak. The firearm is still the equalizer. Not Hollywood, but great villian making 101.
