Well I think I can explain your fathers reaction, the green lamp was new right? so the thought that it was because of the light, and different colours of light cause odd visions too. I'm not saying that this is normal, there are a lot of odd phenomenons out there which can't be explained. But maybe this will let you rest a bit easier.
Another one from Jani: I saw this really weird dream when I was a kid, something like 6 or 7, three nights a row (spooky eh?), it goes like this; I'm in the garden with my mom and the I look up and see a cloud looking exactly like a gravestone (jea even the same greyish color), and there was written in english ( I didn't understand a word of english back then, still I could read it, real odd) something like "The Gates to Heaven are open, a new sacrifice is required" or something like that. Then all of a sudden two men in dark robes appeared, wielding skythes and both had their faces covered with deep shadows, though it was a warm and sunny summer day. Then the men started to drag my mom with them and threw them with a rock, then one of the grapped my arm and then I woke up. Weird eh? Three nights a row of this and a few years later I saw it again, just once tho. I still got one story but I think I will save it for later tho.
Well, this isn't really a ghost story, but sometimes I can see things in my dreams before they actually happen and with no way of me knowing it before. Like lets say I know when our next test will be before the teacher tells uss and stuff like that. My mom said that she had these too when she was a kid but then she saw a dream about her neighbour wearing a black suit, a one that you use when someone dies or something, and a week later her husband got beaten up, badly, I can't remeber mom mentioning that he died, but I can't remember mom mentioning that he didn't die. Since then mom hasn't seen these dreams, and she used to see them a lot, like atleast once a month and usually more, I'm almost 17 and I've seen like 8 and a real spooky nightmare, but I'll leave that for later.
