The day KL experiences a flash flood like Kelantan owing to widespread destruction of water catchment areas will be the day everyone realizes how important it is to preserve green areas within a city.

Touch wood, but if such a flood happens, I hope the houses of the developers and local councilors get flooded as well so that they will open their eyes.

I'd like to reiterate a statement of truth pointed out by Dr Abdul Aziz Bari:
"Only God, not Sultan, has absolute powers."

What is the use of citing laws and the Constitution when in a land like Malaysia they can be twisted and disregarded at one's will and convenience?

Very well said.

Emirates, an airline from an Islamic country, serves alcohol on its flights, yet nothing majorly catastrophic has occurred to it so far. So, going by the mufti's logic, is God practicing double-standards by "punishing" one alcohol-serving, "Muslim-owned" airline and not another?

Dubai and Doha are home to lots of bars and alcohol-serving outlets that cater to the expatriate community. These two cities, located in territories under Islamic jurisdiction, are among the most vibrant in the Middle East and the world in terms of economy and culture. Going by the mufti's logic, shouldn't God "punish" these two cities just like Sodom/Gomorrah or Ad/Thamud in the Quran?

Why is Abdul Hadi so blind? Khalid doesn't listen to the people with regards to Kidex, the Malay/Iban Bibles and water supply, and yet Hadi wants to endorse him. Indirectly, Hadi himself also doesn't want to listen to the people's voice. Selangor voters are a bunch of educated, urbanized and techno-savvy people who can as easily switch their political allegiances or opt not to vote if the government of the day under-performs.

Khalid may have done much good for the state, and let him be remembered for that. The longer he stays as MB while turning a deaf ear to the people's wishes, the more he'll be remembered for his bad rather than good. Please remember, Hadi, that Selangor belongs to the people of Selangor, not Selangor PAS or you alone.

These people remind me of the Pharisees and scribes in the Bible, of whom the Lord Jesus once said, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." - Matthew 23:27-28 (NKJV)

And if they don't understand, here's the version from the Alkitab Terjemahan Baru Bahasa Indonesia, "Celakalah kamu, hai ahli-ahli Taurat dan orang-orang Farisi, hai kamu orang-orang munafik, sebab kamu sama seperti kuburan yang dilabur putih, yang sebelah luarnya memang bersih tampaknya, tetapi yang sebelah dalamnya penuh tulang belulang dan pelbagai jenis kotoran. Demikian jugalah kamu, di sebelah luar kamu tampaknya benar di mata orang, tetapi di sebelah dalam kamu penuh kemunafikan dan kedurjanaan." - Matius 23:27-28 (ATB)

Dear Mr. Ridhuan Tee,
As a Christian myself, I don't deny the fact that sermons by some pastors in churches do bash other religions, and the same can probably be said about sermons in mosques by some imams as well, not to mention the sermons or speeches by religious leaders in each of their respective houses of worship. It is natural for the adherents of each religion to think that theirs is the one true way and that theirs is more superior than other religions, hence the bashing of other religions in their respective places of worship.

But do you know what's the difference with UiTM's seminar? It is a PUBLIC EVENT in a PUBLIC UNIVERSITY, held in a PUBLIC VENUE where the PUBLIC are welcomed and the media is present to report to the PUBLIC. Therefore, what UiTM did was tantamount to belittling another religion PUBLICLY. Belittling another religion behind the walls of a house of worship and belittling another religion in PUBLIC are two different things altogether. Hope you understand.

FYI, Christianity is practically dead in the nations of the pointy noses today...many of them poke fun at Christianity and the Bible, and hardly anyone there would find it glamorous anymore...Rather, if you actually study more about Christianity today, you'd be surprised to learn that revivals are happening more in the Asian-African regions where the Christians of Asia, Africa and the Middle East are more genuine in their faith than the pointy noses
