Ok, tell me if this weird, but I've had 'thing' for witches, the conical hats, the black cats, all of it, since I was a little kid. I think I have Samantha Stevens to thank for that. She was beautiful.

I don’t get that. Who said all tax cuts are good. Why shouldn’t people be able to keep more of their money, anyway? What policy wrecked the economy? Tax cuts? What wrecked the economy was the trillions of dollars in toxic assets accumulated by Fannie Mae under the tenure of Franklin Raines. What wrecked the economy was government interference in the mortgage market through the Community Reinvestment Act. What wrecked the economy was the global financial system being underpinned by derivative financial instruments that were, in reality, impossible to valuate, loose money policy, and an obstructionist Congress which rebuffed any attempt to reign in Fannie Mae. Are you really buying all that class envy, “fat cats on Wall Street”, Obama rally, SEIU crap?

Intellectuals. Speaking of double standards, the Left trumpets intellectualism when it suits it, but quickly fall back on anti-intellectualism and anti-realism—it’s all a dream of God, man (toke on joint here)—subjectivist crap (unfailingly) when confronted with facts. That’s part of their program: they should always be called out on it. I love the anti-intellectual charge! How freaking cliché! A great read on the subject is Thomas Sowell’s ‘The Intellectual and Society’—not an anti-intellectual screed—Sowell, himself, being an intellectual, but a very necessary refutation of the presumed superiority of intellectualism as opposed to real world, objective experience. He makes the point that intellectuals live in insular, self-congratulatory bubbles where their ideas are rarely tested. When they are, the results are often disastrous. If a civil engineer designs a bridge and the bridge falls down, he won’t be building another bridge. An intellectual, like Chomsky, who supports the Khmer Rouge can, thirty five years later, still be fawned over by the pseudo-intelligentsia of Hollywood as the smartest man in America.

Ad hominem, ad hominem, back-handed ad hominem, reductio ad absurdum, blah, blah, blah—not once did this freak show challenge conservative ideas. Not once was there any kind of cogent refutation of the principles of American Conservatism or Modernism. Instead it's, “lying…they know they’re lying…he’s a junkie”, blah, blah, blah. She asks how Limbaugh can possibly have so many listeners despite his personal issues. It never occurs to these people that his listeners listen because Limbaugh makes cogent arguments for smaller government and for individual liberty on a daily basis which stand in stark contrast to the relativistic Post Modern bilge we’re all stewing in. Sure he ate pills for a few years; he’s still right most of the time. Jeanine can put the weed down long enough to spew some hate—good for her—but, she’s still wrong: and no umpteenth reading of the Chomsky Reader is going to change that.

Big Hollywood : Daily Gut: Socialism and Stuff

Socialism can't exist in benign forms. It never has. That's the point. In order to establish forced equality, you have to use the coercive police power of the state. Socialism in the end has to be totalitarian. In the end, totalitarianism must become authoritarian. I think Roger Waters (a big, rich commie, by the way) wrote 'Money', not the Beatles. Ummm...

The smartest man in America! When he’s not running interference in the press for the Khmer Rouge while decrying America’s shameful and wanton destruction of socialism’s ‘good examples’, he’s praising Holocaust deniers like Robert Faurisson.
Socialism can work! Of the several major varieties of socialist theory I can immediately think of, one comes to mind as having worked quite swimmingly at least in the short term. National Socialism was a smashing success; of course, they learned early they had to efficiently and effectively murder those class enemies and enemies of the Volk whose wealth they…er…appropriated. As a system, Socialism does seem to have had, generally speaking, more than a few dark days: the Khmer Rouge, the People’s Temple, the Cultural Revolution, the Holodomor, and the Holocaust…

Big Hollywood : Open -- John Cleese Hates Us -- Thread

It's still heartbreaking. He's become the stereotypical, old blatherer that the Python brilliantly lampooned— just another stale, privileged Euro-lefty bristling with jealous anti-American contempt. He’s tired, his ideas are heartbreakingly hackneyed and his conspiracism smacks of intellectual laziness (as it always will). What is his problem, anyway? Why does he resent the United States so much? To say it was his divorce or the intellectual climate of his educational experience I don’t think explains it all. Cleese used have an American impersonation in his repertoire that literally seethed with contempt. Watching him play that character (with really big, white teeth) you could see the loathing fuming from him in even his fake American pronunciations. As an aside, as the Western Roman Empire slowly (or not too slowly) disintegrated, did its few remaining elites resent the ascent of Constantinople? Is there an analogy? A lot of European intellectuals simply hate American power. It must hurt to know the world has slipped away from you and another society, your cultural progeny, has inherited the mantle and better accomplishments of your civilization. I think Stein got it right in ‘America Alone’.

Why the confusion? The white male must lose his identity to redeem himself morally. All cultures are equal, except Western culture which is uniquely evil because of its exploitation of the Earth’s resources and oppression of the romanticized, Rousseauian ‘noble savage’. The individualism and egoism inherent in the philosophy of the so called ‘enlightened’ West, must be abrogated by the selfless pursuit of the collect good. Of course, the truly ‘enlightened’ spiritual and societal elite of our new social contract will be exempt from this prescription. It’s much too important that they be allowed privileges that facilitate their ‘guidance’ of us, the unenlightened. Makes perfect sense! A great read is Stephen Hick’s Explaining Postmodernism: Skepticism and Socialism from Rousseau to Foucault. I think he does a pretty good job of deconstructing this crap.

Yes, there was no nuanced, Post Modern, moral relativism with the Tolkien. There was no consideration as to why Orcs hated the race of man, nor what men could do to help the Orcs feel less oppressed. There was good and evil and the necessity of the triumph of the former over the latter.

Had the Fascists won, or the Communists, this would be the interpretation of America the quislings would be teaching our children to indoctrinate them into the American National Socialist Party or the Soviet Socialist Party of America. Chomsky is fraud, too. I always thought it strange Will Hunting made no mention of Professor Noam’s support for the Khmer Rouge while they were murdering thousands of people. Unforgivable. How is either Chomsky or Zinn still part of our intellectual landscape? Chomsky, I’m sure, will be remembered for his work in linguistics, much like Heidegger is remembered, though rarely mentioned, despite and because of his Nazism. Zinn, however, is just a crackpot. My favorite Chomsky-ism is ‘Libertarian Socialism’. That I’m guessing is the political ideology of freezer-burned, jumbo shrimp. My second favorite is his prescription for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: ‘Bi-National Socialism’. Hilarious!

Awesome! Finally somebody mentions the obvious tardive dyskinesia. It was the first thing I noticed when I saw this woman speak. Mao chic, indeed. What a perfect example of Post Modern moral and cultural relativism. This woman knows Mao's crimes against humanity as well as anyone, but her utopianism and desire to see society reorganized in a manner more conducive to her collectivist world view overrides any real moral common sense.
