BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Schafer To Have Surgery On Wrist

Don't worry Schafer. You can show up @ spring camp 2010 and it will be like nothing has changed for we shall miss the playoffs again this year. Good lord get a power bat during the off season and we may make the playoffs next year. Or keep hoping these older players will find the fountain of youth all a while running our only real homerun threat (Mac) in the ground!

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : It Wasn't A Lack Of Power.....

   I agree with your statement about our lineup having up to three semi automatic outs. It seems like evertime we got something going in a game, here came on of those semi automatic outs. Kelly and Jeff were the main reasons for that problem. I always felt like Garret would start producing hits. I also believe we have yet to see the best from Nate. And when we get Omar back, look out. I would like to see us get one good power bat in the lineup. The reason for that is number one ...power. We need some of that. And two, if would force the opp to sometimes pitch around a power bat, but me on the bases for another hitter to drive in more runs. Our pitching is great. I love the makeup we have. It will get better also when Hudson comes back. I think we are one move away from a National League Championship contender.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Rumors Of Demise Have Been Exaggerated

I don't know what team you are watching but the team I see has no fire or hunger to take the top spot. As bad as the division is, to think that we could just win the division when we can't even win three in a row is a joke. Your are correct. If we can put together a win streak we could take the top spot. One problem with that....we are to busy putting together losing streaks. Why are we not talking about Terry Pendleton? It is his responsibility to ensure quality hitting. If this was pitching I bet we would be talking about Roger Mcdowell. I believe a change is needed @ hitting coach.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Braves On Track For October Baseball

Skymuse, I agree. There are many issued with our club. Pitching is not one of them. We could play small ball and win with the pitching we have but the players on this team swing for the fence at every at bat. Garret Anderson is a waste of money. He lumbers to field the ball and it seems like he don't give a you know what to be in Atlanta. Kelly Johnson has a great looking swing. He does need to put the ball in play and stop swinging for the fences. One problem with him I see is he is not a leadoff hitter! Maybe a six hole hitter. Infante is a great player . When he returns he needs to be in the lineup everyday. My thoughts are trade away Jeff & Garret. Get a good right handed hitting outfitter in return and bring up a AAA guy to play the other position. That would be better than what we have now. A 500. or less team.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Braves Trade For All-Star McLouth

I think we are a 500. third place team with a shot @ second place. The only way we will finish first or win a wild card will be if we play more standard baseball or if the two @ the top just suck it up. One of those two teams does have a history @ doing just that! But to get better we have to focus on the basics. Work the count ot our favor, base stealing (need speed for that), hit and runs, hitting the ball the other way. Just put the ball in play. We have a better team than what we are showing. Let's get some runs cause we have the pitching to win. BRAVES4LIFE !!!!!!!!
