totalBarca : FC Barcelona announce record revenues of €494.9M

There is vast speculation that our financial situation is not nearly as bad as Rosell would have us believe. See swissramble for details.

totalBarca : Should Barcelona sign Santi Cazorla?

I agree with Tito's decision. He is the perfect fit and if he's not available this season, then he will be soon and at some point he will probably want to move to a bigger club (he didn't grow up in Bilbao's youth system). He is the absolutely perfect piece to add and we will add him at some point. Considering Neymar is coming in at some point and Martinez will always be expensive, I don't see the point in buying a short-term replacement for him. If he doesn't sign, then we can let our canteranos get some minutes and see what we have. On a side note, people should be calling for Rosell's head regardless of any success we may have under his presidency.

totalBarca : Euro 2012: Quarterfinal Roundup

Do you know anything about football? Xavi's primary responsibility-especially with Spain-IS NOT to always look for the killer through ball all the time or to lead the team in assists. Contrarily, all those "sideways passes" are EXACTLY what he is supposed to do. Xavi's job is to link the attack to the defense. He is supposed to roam around as he pleases and dictate the tempo of the game. He has played brilliantly throughout the tournament as he has made every other player on the team better by ensuring they receive the ball when/where they need it to be most effective. Moreover, 65%+ possession is essential for Spain's success.

Rosell is currently being investigated for corruption in Brazil. The allegations are pretty severe, but Rosell will probably get away with it. http://www.economist.com/node/21530991

I would've liked to see Thiago make it if he had a place in the team. As it stands, I'd rather watch Thiago represent the U-23s at the Olympics instead of watching him sit the bench at the Euros (I feel the same about Adrian).

Does your youtube video show that he isn't even an every week starter at PSG? He's a good prospect, but comparing him to Thuram and Abidal is quite premature and I doubt he is any more ready than Muniesa to step into that role.

Martinez would play plenty for Barca. His versatility would allow him to replace Keita, spell Busi and play some CB as well. He has even played as an emergency rb for Bilbao and could potentially play on the right as more of an Abidal role (or in a 3 cb setup). Having said that, I would love nothing more than to see this Bilbao squad play a couple more years together.

It seems Barca is trying to invert our defensive setup with the seemingly inevitable departure of Dani. Montoya likes to push up, but he is nowhere near as offensive-minded as Dani. I think our technical staff is planning on signing Alba and using him in the Alves role (on the left) while Puyol/Montoya play the RB position in a similar style as that of Abidal. I don't know why the board is so intent on getting rid of Dani, but they are leaking information about him to the press and trying the best they can to convince him to accept a transfer. In this circumstance, I think they are planning on playing Pedro/Cuenca on the RW and having them be a little more withdrawn than Villa/Alexis/Tello on the left. I think long-term the goal would be to hope that Alba develops a similar understanding with Alexis (and/or Neymar) as that of Dani and Messi operating from the right.

I wouldn't pay 25 alone for Bale...most overrated player in the world. Give me Jordi Alba for around 18 and I'm ecstatic. As for Llorente and Martinez...would love to have them but theyre not coming for those prices. I think someone is going to overpay for Llorente this summer and Martinez-in my opinion-is worth at least 35. My summer wish list depends on 2 things: 1) If Dani is leaving (looking like the board wants him gone); 2) If Neymar is really coming in the next 2 years. The only player that I really want-regardless of those 2 events-is Martinez. He would be perfect and he is the only player in the world with whom I would feel confident in filling in for Busi in a big game if it were necessary. If Dani leaves, then Alba seems to be incredibly important (I think we've already locked him up either way). As for Neymar...that seems the big question. If he is coming this year or next, then I don't think we should make any big name moves up front (I'd be fine leaving our attacking players as is regardless considering the prospects coming up and the improvement from Tello and Cuenca). I personally rate Muniain much higher than Neymar, but it seems that Neymar will be coming at some point. Assuming this is true, we need to get him in soon as he is developing a lot of very bad habits at Santos.

no way Martinez is 20-22...we're not the only team that wants him. I think we'd be able to get him for 30-35 (a couple of months ago the rumor was 25, but I think that may have increased).
