Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Organize This through 4/27

I agree, I cannot be 100% sure of Glenn's motivations and sincerety. But the premise of the argument (the value system must come back to the individual and thus the mainstream) I believe is correct. I think a lot of good can get done. I don't care who has the good idea. The idea is good- now lets take it and run with it.

news, Why go through all the trouble; centrifuges, enrichment of a nuclear warhead. Killing in any form is tragic, and no less tragic when domestic peacekeepers are targeted. But lets not lose our target. People were killed by a person. We have to turn our attention to these pressing social concerns that are manufacturing violent maniacs. The focus on the removal of tools in which violence is propagated, indeed, amplified as about as good as treating the symptoms vs the cause of a medical illness. Take away the guns (achohol prohibation shows that you cant), and criminals use knives, bombs, poison. How many times has a car been used as a weapon. People running down other people in crowded malls, or crossing the median looking to take someone with them. LETS OUTLAW CARS! Freedom isn't free, the lost in Pittsburg illustrates that there is a cost associated with the populise bearing arms. Removal of firearms is removal of personal responsibility.

I know I'm going to have to take a serious look at the way I vote. I'm going to have to go through the effort and research ALL the candidates (even the locals- grassroots after all begins from the bottom up). I'm pretty much going to abolish the vote by party lines default, too many people running around with a R or a D by thier name, looking to get elected to represent a standard they themselves don't understand. We should require, not as law, but by encouragement via our vote that they post a journal of their working days on the hill, what was discussed, what thier view was, along with a nice home page describing who they are, and what they stand for. If they can't do that, we can replace them with someone who can!

I know some people reading your comment are going "what the heck!".I too have played sim city, and while looking back I cannot say it was the BEST use of my time, it was helpful in managing the buget of bureaucracies. On a side note how did you get a balanced budget with zero taxes and earnings strictly off of exports? Wow, what a town! Oh man, now I'm going to have to start playing all over again...

Case in point, Guy X feels that this is not a good use of time because "Glens just making it (tears) up". We hear that a lot. Ok. Guy X viewpoint is valid because he cares, he doesn't want to see a bunch of good people 'dooped' over what he considers a false act of emotion. For the record I cannot say with 100% accuracy whether in fact Glenn was crying because he cares about the country. I believe so, I'd like to believe so. And it that hope that brought me here. and to guy X I say that while Glenn started this project, its not going to end with him. People will carry on the hope that was reflected in those tears for what the people believed they saw- not whether or not it was actually there. I care because I CARE and I'm going to use any site or soapbox neccesary to find other people who care too.

I don't condone hate in any form. If you resort to using inflammatory statements in a comment debate, you lose the debate. That said I wouldn't advocate simply drowning out those who view points differ. By and large decentors care, or they wouldn't be spending thier time pointing thier view out.

We need to be careful with the Line Item Veto, every president asks for it, i think Clinton had it once and even then not for long. If 'we the people' feel we've granted the government too much power, the line item veto would only add to that power. #6 is in there because you want something done about pork spending, I don't like prok either but could you imagine a piece of legislation with 98 bad little things and 2 really really good things, and the good things being line veto'd?

Don't feel bad, it was in the spirit of humor, you even mentioned that in the begining. Humor- humility is there a correspondence there... Anyway it was funny, and funny doesn't always mean nice.

I hesitate speaking for you ed. Only you know the nature of your situation. I can only speak from what I know. I'm sure in the small town of 3000 people or so in Texas, everybody more or less see's eye to eye. In Flagstaff where I'm from, it is the political opposite. I'm the one who's ideals lie on the periphery, and being out numbered 20 to 1. My arguments were either too weakly defined, or I didn't voice them enough. Alot of entitlement money serves the function of an economy here, and its difficult to make people see any other way without it. You could be one of the few, the proud patriots. I'd need more info to be certain. My opinion is not important anyway. What matters is, if you have your ducks in a row, your ready to move on to the next step in the project by finding a solidarity in values amongst your community. See what common ground you can find amongst them, or if you like a challenge, among the people you disagree with the most here. Everybody who is here cares on some level, or they wouldn't be here. That is basically the bedrock on which these comment posts exists.

But to answer your first question "some of the People not to blame?" I betcha some people spent within thier means. Some people didn't buy a product from a doobious corporation, or other bad business. Some people voted, and voted thier conscience, knew who they were voting for and why. But did they succeed in activating others? Did we (using we loosely) engage others to consider issues entirely? Or did we rub others with our arguments in such a wrong way as to spin them off in the opposite direction. My bet is someone, somewhere, did all of these things correctly- but thats a small handfull of people, and it wasn't enough to overcome the plight that is upon us.

Ed I'm glad you asked that, I think people just by getting thier heads in the game (as it is for me) and comming here (and other places) is a great start. I think we can learn and as you said it starts with faith in ourselves. I think thats step one in the 912 project. Start with yourself. What values do you have. How do you run your business. Admittedly I have not done a good job in my personal life. The government spent spent more than it collected, and guess what, so did I! How can I expect elected officials to live up to an premise in which I did not. Well thats going to change.

Lets make use of the "thumbs up/ thumbs down feature here" In essence its your way of voting how helpful something is. Administrators may scan for a large thumbs ups as issues to repond to. I don't think they read every post- do you? Usually I grade each post I read, and if its valid point AND constructive I 'thumb up' it. Often I grade people I don't agree with 'thumbs up' because I think it is a viewpoint that must be heard. If its derogatory or hyper political I grade it down. Mixed messages get no vote at all. This point you make momentum is a valid one and should be viewed by the managers of this site. I grade everyone here in constructive favor of this 1 up. Thanks for the comment

Sweet folks, This is the first posting thread that has gone 5 replies without a derogatory remark. It makes me think there's hope yet. Again I welcome discention, opposition- just keep the critisicm constructive. After reading ALL the posts from some of the negative reputation folks < -50 or so. Those people should be heard aswell. "Those that can't understand the opposition's arguments, don't understand thier own" - a TV repair guy once told me that...

Populace, Does anybody remember that poll on FOX News? It asks you to assign blame for our current economic situation. Your given three choices: The Government, the Businesses, and the People. I didnt' understand the premise of the poll because the government is composed of elected representatives of the people. Business, well, businesses are made up of shareholders (people), workers (people) and ultimately customers who buy the products (people). So who is to blame for the current economics 1. the people 2. the people or 3. the people. I could be wrong, and I invite any kind spirited (constructive) debate or comments.
