<description>You must not have read the links that were provided.   There are provisions that allow for emergency withdrawal. The owner is fighting to amend the rules, since the rules are vague and no one else has ever asked for an emergencey withdrawal to help save the life of their pet.   One of the provisions under 457(b) plans is that it may offer distributions to a participant based on an unforeseeable emergency for:   *an illness or accident of the participant, the participant&amp;rsquo;s beneficiary, or the participant&amp;rsquo;s or beneficiary&amp;rsquo;s spouse or dependents;   I think he has a good case, since this was an unforseeable illness and Tank (name of the American Bulldog) was his dependent. </description>
