j3ff.us : Zillion TV - Taking the Plunge

It has now been 22 days since I signed up for ZillionTV. Still no email from ZillionTV with my shipping confirmation, so I have no idea when the box will arrive. My excitement over this is dwindling.

ChurchCrunch : Review: Covenant Eyes for iPhone

Since this doesn't track all web traffic from the iPhone isn't this essentially only as good as the user is 'good'? It seems like it defeats the accountability aspect of this offering. The desktop version sees all web traffic and when uninstalled notifies the accountability partner(s). I am just not sure this product was worthwhile for CovenantEyes to develop since the iPhone doesn't allow background processes.

I am still waiting on my ZillionTV box. I contacted ZillionTV Customer Support and they said they were having an 'issue with our fulfillment system that has affected a couple of orders'. Mine happens to be one of the two orders affected if I am to take them literally when they say 'couple'. They offered to ship it overnight and provide an additional $25 gift card for the trouble which is nice. I am only disappointed that they didn't contact me via email and let me know about the delay. So I still haven't experienced ZillionTV.

ChurchCrunch : AppChurch - Simple and Affordable iPhone Application for Your Ministry

This is clever. $7.00 per month sounds very cheap to me. It sure beats creating your own iPhone app. However, a mobile website would be cheaper of course. But this looks like a good way for a Church to give easy access to sermons and events to members of their Church on their iPhone at a very low cost.

Good ideas. Using Wave to prepare and encourage additional interaction before and after a face to face meeting. I could see this helping Bible Study participants to get far more involved and get more out of their study group without having to meet as a group in person for more 'sessions'.

Those are some great ideas. I can see Prayer Waves being very useful and I really think Wave could have some serious potential in the Greek/Hebrew teaching arena. So far you have the leading ideas. I will probably wait another week to see if others chime in, but so far I would say you have a Wave invite coming your way sometime soon! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

ChurchCrunch : Shoo, Go Away Google Wave! Or Take a Chill Pill.

I like your open and honest thoughts on Wave. I have been experimenting with Wave for the past week or so and have had similar feelings as you do. The current rendition of Wave at http://wave.google.com is chaotic and messy (and of course buggy). It is strange to have people seeing every character, backspace, and misspelling as you type. I don't see Wave replacing email at this juncture, but the possibilities it opens up for real-time communication are interesting. I am more interested in how developers will use Wave (the platform) to bring us creative products and solutions, yet all the buzz is about Wave being the product or solution. I think when more people get invites they may be disappointed about what they see if they don't understand that when you get into http://wave.google.com it is really just one rendition of what Wave can do, and not its fullest potential.

Puffy Shirt : A Biased Approach to Health Care Reform

This all makes me wonder if the insurance industry should be allowed to have 'for profit' organizations. It seems like a lot of this could get fixed if insurance companies were required to be non-profit organizations.

Puffy Shirt : God and Artificial Intelligence

These are some deep questions. I have asked similar questions regarding if intelligent life were to ever be found from another planet. I hadn't placed these same questions on AI, but they are valid. My gut tells me that being human and being made in the 'image of God', is more than just how my brain processes information. So my gut tells me that even a highly advanced AI would still just be a machine made by humans, even if I can have a really good conversation with it. Of course as this all becomes more real even I will need to take a closer look at these ideas.

ChurchCrunch : My Trip to the Virtual Confessional

I would have to agree that it is very difficult to truly overcome habitual sin in life if we don't place ourselves in a place where others know who we are and know what we are struggling with. In my life I found I wasn't able to overcome pornography until other men around me knew of my struggle and held me accountable. I was scared to death of others finding out, but through confession and accountability God used those men to heal me and pull me out of my sin. I am now free from that sin. Praise the Lord!

ChurchCrunch : World First? Internet Baptism by Flamingo Road

My first thoughts on this were that this is simply wrong, making a mockery of Baptism. But the more I have thought about it, I think that this is actually great. A woman was Baptized through this ministry, and her Baptism has been a more public proclamation than most are. I think my initial reaction was based simply on how different it is from how I typically consider Baptism happening. But why is a Baptism being done on video any different than one in front of a congregation? Both have the individual expressing their faith through Baptism. Actually this is great in that it helps us to see that 'Online Ministry' can truly have an impact in a persons life.

ChurchCrunch : Being Articulate in Ministry (and in Life) Doesn't Make You Awesome

I went to Bible College and learned how to speak 'Church' really well. I pulled myself away from what is considered 'full-time' ministry so I could connect more with those who don't know Christ and had a serious learning curve as I realized that I was so versed at speaking 'Christaneese' that nothing I said made sense to people. I now talk more like a regular Joe (or at least try to) , but I can still go deep on a subject when necessary without initially turning people away by sounding like a typical Bible College graduate.
