This was the case at my high school too. I think the rationale was "we know some of you are going to smoke no matter what, so keep it confined to this area and don't fuck up all the neighbors' yards." Which makes a certain amount of sense, but is still weird.

I'm in Seattle and would also like to hear more, if you don't mind! I was technically diagnosed around seven years ago, but a psychiatrist I saw a few years back contested the diagnosis and took me off stimulants. I'm not sure I want to be back on the same meds, but I think he was absolutely wrong about my not having ADHD, and I've been meaning to look into other options for screening/people to see/other potential resources.

I keep thinking I'm all done having revelations about what things in my life are probably informed by my ADHD, and then I read shit like this. Thank you for sharing!

This happened to me so hard. I'd had a strong suspicion that I had ADHD and depression for a few years before anyone would listen. Nobody in my life felt they needed to take it seriously until my last year of high school/first year of college, when my grades started tanking. Until then, my seeing a therapist was too much of an inconvenience to bother looking into.
