If you go to a store and buy the really cheap soccer balls, in Europe mainly, they are just rubber balls with the pentagons or exagons drawn on them, if you kick it really hard the ball will go all over the place and won't spin... if you kick a traditional soccer ball it will spin in the air and it will go straight unless you "english" it... that can make it an absolute nightmare for a goalie... and while it may result in more goals, it will also mean that skill will be less of an asset because anyone kicking the snot off the ball will be able to make it turn like very few now can. I remember growing up in Italy, my whole family from my grand parents to aunts uncles cousins, second cousins I mean EVERYBODY but 3 people were Inter Milan Fan (great year for us BTW). It's a way of life you sit at the dinner table or at a family function and everyone men women and children discuss soccer, the teams, this year the world cup. I was 10 years old whe Italy won the world cup in '82 I still remember the images on the tv, the goals, the cheers, and everyone in the streets, the entire country as one rose up their couches and took to the streets, and hugged each other and cheered, cried, and people were walking around with bottles of wine filling up strangers glasses. Still to date the biggest party I have ever been part of. And the beauty of it was that these events are pure emotion, it's not a perfectly organized parade, or an organist letting us know when it is good to scream "charge", it's pure unadulterated passion, and soccer is the only thing that can bring this to the masses, not even religion.
