Going into this break, let's all realize we have a right to disagree...a right to actually not LIKE a model...but, I really hope we all wish everything success, even if we don't like it, because there are 100s of children that are impacted with each failure - be it SACS, He'Atid, etc...things have a domino effect of impact not just one that school, but others, like when SACS children ran back to the other yeshivot weeks before the new school year started, etc...let's just hope for global success.

Thanks for your hard work. I would remove the threading, and try to figure out how the comments / posts can be accessed and reviewed more easily. I know some people have told me in shul there are no comments - and I told them there are, but just you have to play around to get to them - try to fix that glitch please. That is chasing away some readers and comments. As far as signing in, I like that. People need to think twice before they say disgusting things about segements of our mo community or the general population.____With regard to Guest's post about He'Atid teachers. I also heard that some teachers that were considering to apply, spoke to some parents that registered, got their feedback and chose not to apply. However, I think it is not fair to have a substantive conversation about He'Atid or other issues at this time, where people from both sides of the "aisle" may not be present to defend or comment. Many are in Florida / Israel, etc. ____

Thanks for the post. Do you think your kids socially are doing OK because they have siblings to play with at home, when not at their other extracurricular activities? How do you think a family with just one child will fare with that issue? How about 2 children, but not close in age?

Between TPS, tutors, home schooling, JEC, Chabad, etc...I think people can no longer complain about unreasonable tuition prices...there seems to be ample alternatives.

To compare the global or regional economy to on a macro level to that of the local "tuition crisis" within our community is not appropriate. The costs for a MO family for kosher, shuls, schools, etc., with 2-4 children is much greater than a traditional "average" family living in say Hackensack / Bogota. If employment is down from 9.5 to 8.5%, does that address the issue of a dual income family with a combined income of 150k, but needing 225k to just GET BY?

Wow - did not know about the business direcotr. Heard that volunteers would be doing that for the first few months or years. I think they also have a senior "administrative assistant" who has been on the books for months. 3 fulltime admins and 2 paid consultants plus an admin assistant, and they are 8 months from opening their doors - I don't think the legacy have 5 out of classroom admins on payroll per 100-125 children - do they?

Some people may simply have undue negative feelings towards other yeshivot, but will that survive to the point that others will donate 100s of thousands for years to come to subsidize all student's tuition at He'Atid?

Like I wrote Saturday night, I heard some were thinking of switching out already NOW. Others, said they will "try" it for a year and then consider a switch.

I honestly hope He'Atid ends up doing OK, same for other Yeshivot, as this is about the children!!! He'Atid failing or other schools folding will ONLY hurt our children which must be avoided at all costs.

411: It has been analyzed sever times on this and other blogs. There are major donors and organizations "subsidizing" He'Atid. We all know He'Atid is not paying rent, having a PRESCHOOL director, head of school, 2 educational consultants and everything for under 9k. It costs more. Probably much more. This is before they even buy a real building to house thier school long term. You are just being charged 9k as the rest seems to be paid by the donors. The real question for He'Atid is can they sustain this level of tuition? Will the demand for resource rooms cause a need for tuition uptick? Would some donations drying up cause an uptick?

Should be an interesting few months on this blog September - December 2012. I think when it is time to register for year two at He'Atid, SACS or other programs, early 2013, it would be even more interesting.

Was at multiple shuls this weekend. Heard some rather negative attitudes about He'Atid from those registered to attend. Some were considering alternatives for next year. I was honestly shocked, as I thought these people were excited at the opportunity to save 4-5k this year on yeshiva tuition. Can people please post what their concerns are at this time? If finances are an issue, aren't you willing to give up some "perks" of the larger yeshivot, in order to save some money? Provided they hire quality strong teachers, shouldn't that be the most important thing you should be concerned about?

JS - you raise some important issues. However, I have spoken with several families with children in public school and their children have a very active social life - with their PS friends and their MO friends that attend Yeshiva. In a community like ours, the situation is even less of an issue, as there are so many schools to choose from that your "Shlomie" is not the only one not at the Yeshiva. It is another story if you lived in say Elizabeth, and all but 2 kids in shul go to JEC. At my shul, I know of kids attending 4-6 yeshivot per grade - so your concern is much less in our area. When you spend some time learning about the strong programs and faculty at the PS, it will also make your decision rather easy.

Can one be moral, not have sex until marriage, dress conservatively, not be a "gangster" or bad influence on a child who happens to be MO Jewish?

Are we so naive to think there is "US" and then there is inferior group of people? Can one simply not be observant, not be Jewish and still be a great influence on our lives and our children?

I am shocked with this post:
1. I knows dozens of families that have strong family morals and ethics being taught at home and are not Jewish and some not particularly religious.
2. Do you think every student at TABC / Maayanot / Frisch, etc. is NOT sexually active?
3. Do you think every student or majority of students at THS are sexually active?

The ignorance people have in our Jewish community is scary. To think someone will be immoral because they are not MO Jewish or not Caucasian or not English as native language is disturbing. We need, as a community, to take a step back and look at ourselves. Are we as moral and "straight" as we make ourselves out to be?

I find it funny how many in town have no issues using the municipal pool, the discounted summer camps such as Sports & Arts, but when it comes to learning math from a certified, experienced teacher [knowing their neighbor may look down upon them], they are suddently worried about the dress code, sexual activities of the students, etc... -

It is a sad state of affairs in our community and I think it starts at the top. The leadership of our community does nothing to address these issues.
