Have a wonderful training day, library employees. As a taxpayer I'm happy to support some time away to destress, get to know your fellow employees better (which tends to improve a working environment), and learn some new things for your professional development. Thanks library employees for all you give to our community. I need the library, especially when funds are tight. I'm glad you will take a day to appreciate how you improve our community, appreciate one another, and to grow even stronger as an organization. There will always be people that complain about this sort of thing, but ultimately, its a good idea (and if you actually get a good key note, then even better!! I hope its a good one for you!!). The only reason this is a news item is people are raising a ruckus. I don't think a retreat day will be the financial ruin of the library.
