MariaKeckler.com : Five Lessons from a Super Sticky Newsletter

I liked this. I am the queen of irregular newsletters as hard as i try. I am always creating content, but it's not always for the newsletter. I think the hardest part is knowing my audience. 1/2 wants "short and sweet" helpful info without a lot of emotion. The other half loves long letters from me, updates on my life and things I recommend. I know what I really need to do is to do a survey and really see what the need is then how to fill it through 2 different styles of newsletters. I think above everything people want the newsletter to be from an individual - to know there is a person behind it and not a corporation. It can also be discouraging when you work hard on a newsltr and only half the subscribers open it up... which is actually a GOOD rate! I loved your tips and it made me want to read the books! Great job, as always, Maria.

Online First, because The Love Dare—the New York Times bestselling book from the 2008 hit movie FIREPROOF—helps couples rewrite their love stories, B&H Publishing announces a new web community worldwide, inviting Love Dare readers to share their new happy endings on video. LoveDareStories.com In the movie FIREPROOF, Fire Captain Caleb Holt reluctantly agrees to delay his divorce and take a 40-day challenge called “The Love Dare.” Before the 40 days end, his notion of married love has turned from “how she fails me” to “what I can do, through Christ, to love and support her.” He’s also given his life to the Source of eternal love. Since the movie’s release, The Love Dare has sold more than 3 million books in 27 languages. As in the movie, the book helps couples find real love, rekindle marriages, and revitalize families. “This new community network lets people meet and interact in an online space just for them,” explains Andrea Dennis, B&H Marketing Manager. “Couples or individuals create their own user profiles and share their own Love Dare stories both through written journals and, what has us most excited, a new video blog.” The result is individual stories to encourage people worldwide. B&H calls anyone who has taken the 40-day challenge to upload his or her own store. Never mind production quality! “Be entirely casual. By no means must a video be polished or professionally edited,” Dennis said. “People read this book and want to talk. The idea is to meet and talk to others who have taken the Love Dare—to encourage, share ideas, and hold one another accountable.” The new URL is LoveDareStories.com. The old URL, LoveDareBook.com redirects users to the new site. ------------------------------------------------ iTunes and iPod 1.
Rest Ministries Chronic Illness Pain Support : Does Our Perception Change How Well Our Painkillers Work?

Hi, Audes, actually my mom has the same issues. She is allergice to most "filler" used in generic drugs and must get notes from the doctor for brand names to be accepted by the insurance. I NEVER want people to think it is "all in our head." But based on this study, I think it's important that we continue to be good advocates for our best health/self. When we see all the commercials for new medications, we need to be aware that the marketing companies for the pharmaceutical companies are paid to try to get us to take that particular brand name. Frankly, I dont think there should be advertising allowed for prescription medications. We always need to ask our doctors, pharmacists, and our self (and God!)if we are taking what is best AND necessary. That may or may not be a brand name/generic medication/alternative treatment. Due to all of the marketing hype "people" (human nature) does think that if it costs more it must work better--which is not necessarily true.

I think I got it right. More people felt better when they thought they were being treated with the more expensive medication. It goes with the marketing concept of it you price an item too LOW people don't perceive it as having any real value.

Invisible Illness Awareness Week : Why I Rode Space Mountain and Celebrated Irresponsibility

I also strongly recommend spending the extra $15 and purchasing RideMax software at http://ridemax.com. You can choose your hours, when you want to take a break, when you want to see parades, etc. and what rides to go on. It tells you when to get Fast Passes, when to get in lines, etc. based on time of day. VERY HELPFUL! And you can schedule a break in if you want to go back and take a nap or something. You don't use it exactly (if a line is short and you are standing there, get in it!) but it's helpful to have a schedule, especially if you have family or friends coming too and want to kind of stay together. Some rides w/ a wheelchair you wait the same amount of time; some you don't wait long at all; some you wait about 1/2 the time. We got Fast Passes for everything we really wanted to do that I did. If, w/ the wheelchair we didn't end up needing the Fast Pass, then my husband and son used them and went a second time. Keep me posted!

Aviva, Yes, the company name is Deckert Surgical and Homecare - Santa Ana, CA and their number is 714-542-5607. We stayed at a hotel that recommended them. I called them and they delivered the chair (in Anaheim) to the hotel within an hour and picked it up when we were done. We took the local city tourist bus that was about $10 for 3 days and if I had needed to, I could have stayed in the chair. All transporation people were wonderful and always let me get on first (usually, I'd have to wait for 2 buses because I couldn't use the "standing room only" and hang on.) It was helpful because the walk from where a bus drops you off all the way into the Disney parks and then to the wheelchair area where you wait in another line (and a line to turn it in at night when it's chaos). Plus, if you park hop, you have to turn it in and rent another one at CA Adventure. The price was about $8-9 a day I want to say. Disney was about $7 or 8 plus a deposit. One morning a small wheel came off at Disneyland and we called and they told us the fastest way was for us to go to CA Adventure (where we were heading anyway) and pick another one up at the hotel. It was seamless. They would have met us out front at the park in about 45 minutes if we'd not been park hopping. They were very kind and I strong recommend Deckart Surgical (in fact, I am going to write a review on them now that you've reminded me of it.) The chair was really comfortable too. The materials it was built out of weren't sticky or hot. 3 days in one of Disneyland's chairs and I would have been sore!
