Personally, my experiences with the SBPD have been pretty negative. Last summer we had numerous break-ins on my street in South Bend and the SBPD was extremely lackadaisical with their response each time we called them for help/report latest break-in. We ended up calling the State Police for help instead of SBPD. My neighbors and I were left feeling as though the SBPD left us to fend for ourselves against the crime we experienced. Tazering, beating and sicking a dog on a 14-year-old unarmed boy is far from normal behavior. If that were my kid I would have sued for more than 150k, plus I would have named each officer personally in the suite as well as the city. It’s interesting that the SBPD completely has no clue what they are doing with their police dogs, as the story mentions Nikko attacked the very officers it’s supposedly “trained” to work with. SBPD sucks. Period.
