I belong to several unions and was on strike and on the picket lines for four months at the beginning of 2008. Meanwhile my husband - a realtor - sold nothing since 2007. So we - like many other middle class citizens out there - have been suffering the effects of a stagnating economy for a year. We both believe that the only way out of this mess is to address the root cause - the foreclosure crisis. We believe that the banks need to go back to homeowners under foreclosure and offer them a deal - pay off the principal over time at zero interest and stay in your homes. This will keep people in their homes, repair neighborhoods, give banks back their principal investment and stabilize the housing market. Speculators are another issue. They will suffer. They deserve to suffer. Individual homeowners do not.
