The "where were you during the drunken Republican spending spree the last 8 years" was simply to point out that the "populist outrage" of the commenters here is solely motivated by their fear and hatred for Obama and the evil libruls. The premise that it is anything but is preposterous. 95% of the visitors to this site don't even know about the Republican spending record. Suddenly, they are concerned for our country. Sniff, sniff.

So Jenni, What newspaper do you read? Let me guess, you don't read newspapers cause they try to make you believe things you simply don't want to believe. It's all a grand conspiricy isn't it? Read a newspaper Jenni, it aint "an economic downturn in the Bush years." it's a catastrophic economic meltdown in the Bush years.

just4fun, you don't hold George Bush responsible for the Economic Meltdown? There was nothing conservative about Bush's economic policies. Neocon or Republican, yes, but not Conservative. And where was the "Oil President" who you excuse "for energy prices stealing all our wealth in a short period of time". BTW, The Office of Budget and Management concluded in October of 2008 that unregulated speculation caused oil prices to skyrocket to $4.50 per gallon, not supply and demand. There is a bipartisan bill being sponsored in Congress right now to end that speculation. We'll see if the fat cats are able to quash that bill. Nor was Bush's response to 911 Conservative. Neocon or Republican, yes, but not Conservative.

Miffed, you sound very reasonable, but I respectfully disagree with your assertion that on this site there is a "very small segment that will defend the Republican party at all costs". I have read countless comments and have barely read a reasonable position yet. In fact, most of what I read, imho, is opinion from another planet. And, all of the opinion is clouded by an irrational fear or irrational hatred for Demcrats and more specifically, for the evil Barack Obama. Go check out the news item "President Obama Wants Europe To See The GOOD That America Does" wherein about 22 commenters speculate, seriously, abut Obama being the antichrist, and not one person dissents that as preposterous but me. Those peple belong in padded rooms. I do agree wholeheartedly with your assertion that "there is an equal number of liberals that will do the same for the Dem party". But I don't see those nu!jobs going main stream with a sight like this, along with the support and encouragement of a major network and it's comentator/entertainer.

imwithstupid Except, you wonder if Obama is the Antichrist??? You, Bill Strong, and all the commenters here who would speculate about Obama being the Antichrist, are not Christians. You are not filled with the Holy Spirit, you are filled with hate.

imwithstupid Except, I only see commenters blaming Obama, Dodd, Frank, Clinton and all the evil Dems. Are you people serious??? You mean there is no responsibility for the world's economic meltdown by any Republican Congressmen, Senators or President. Are you people on this planet? Plus, you're coming to the party awfully late! A day late and $19 Billion dollars short. Where was all your populist rage over the 19 Billion in Bonuses the bailed out Wall Street firms paid out at the end of 2008. Were you simply afraid to speak out during a Republican Administration??? Or didn't you read about the fact of the bonuses in the newspaper. Oh that's right, you don't read newspapers.

imwithstupid Except the death tax does not disproportionately effect the small businessman, nor mom, nor apple pie. Make your argument against the death tax with facts, not populist platitudes - 95% of small businesses don't make enough money to be effected by the death tax. I'm a small businessman and there has never been any politician looking out for my welfare - nor do I ask them to. So it galls me when politicians wax poetic about the poor helpless small businessmen that they are pretending to help, when always it's the fat cats they are actually helping.

imwithstupid Except y'all are coming to the tea party awfully late. Where were all of you during the drunken sailor spending spree by George Bush and The Republican Congress? The budget increased 40% between 2000 and 2006. 40%!!! And how is it that the Republican Congress' Budget in 2006, as signed by George Bush, contained nearly 4 times as many pork earmarks as Bll Clntons Budget of 2000? I'm glad you are finally waking up and taking action, but we could have used your help during those pork and spend, Bush/Republican Congress years.

imwithstupid Except this may not be the best idea. Red China dictated how many children their subjects may have - limit one. So, as the girls were born, the parents drowned them, and continued to drown them as they appeared, until a boy was born, because boys are more valuable and therefore permitted to live. Currently in China, there are 20 million more boys in their 20's than their are girls. But hey, if Red China can "dictate" these things, why can't we?

Meant to attach my comment to a specific comment that alluded to the same subject. My comment seemed to make sense within that context. Missed it by that much... But Islandfox, I will show you sarcasm: He hired six lobbyists, OMG!!! Six of em??? I give Obama credit for trying. I seem to think he's doing at least as well as McCain would have done in this regard. It's an admirable effort that I'd applaud, despite breaking his promise. I'll take his six over the records of any previous administration any day. Also, it's unequivocal that Obama has forbidden members of his administration from lobbying once they leave the administration. That is a huge step, and we can expect that promise will be kept. You have plenty of other reasons to excoriate Obama, this subject ain't one of them.

imwithstupid Except, does anyone remember when they were kids just how filthy the creeks, streams, rivers and oceans were? All those dead rivers devoid of fish, the Ohio RIver catching on fire, walking along the ocean shore and having tar stuck on the bottom of your feet, or maybe even a hypodermic needle? Whatever we had to give up back then to reinvigorate our beautiful and clean waterways was a small price to pay. Having to use environmentally friendly soap seems like a small price to pay to help continue the progress.

What do you think of Obama's attempt to 1.) bar lobbyists from being hired by his administration and 2.) prevent administration officials from being hired as lobbyists after they leave his adminstration. Rather unprecedented approach by any politician in years, wouldn't you agree?
