Big Hollywood : 'Source Code' Review: We Have Nothing to Fear, But Hollywood's Predictable Political Correctness

I have often thought about The Siege since 9-11. In the Siege after a terrorist attack on a bus, people of Arabic descent were rounded up and put in camps. 9-11 was a much worse attack then the bus bombing i.e. thousands dead, the World Trade Center downed, the Pentagon attacked and I haven't seen those camps come to be fruition. It would seem that we are much better people than Hollywood imagines us to be!

As long as the motivation of the culprit made any kind of sense in the real world, it could work.

They did not mention in the article what the guy's motivation was. Was he a left wing radical? An anarchist? A union nut-job seeking revenge or to wreak havoc? Not that long ago a young man was on the Rachel Maddow show promoting his book which was in turn promoting violent revolution (I saw a clip on Breibart TV) to counteract the Tea Party and the Right Wing. So, yeh, I thought a preppy white male brainwashed by Marxist professors could be a culprit in a movie. JUST TELL ME THAT THE CULPRIT IS A LEFT WING RADICAL, PLEASE!!!

Big Hollywood : Amy Adams Cast as Lois Lane in Superman Reboot

o.k., o.k., I understand that not seeing the two flicks mentioned may be your badge of honor, but going to a chick flick with your wife on a special occasion such as a her birthday can also be a loving gesture! Seeing such flicks with your husband can be special (and, yes, it happens very rarely in my household, but it is very nice when it happens!). When my husband takes the time to do that, I know it is not really his thing, but I know he does it for me and to be with me......

Big Hollywood : Desperate for a Comeback, Disgraced Author Degrades Christ in New Novel

Thanks so much for answering me. I had a feeling it was going to be something like that, but that sounds even worse than I would have expected! It is not as if Timothy McVeigh was an evangelical........when has an evangelical ever been involved in a bombing? Especially one AT A SCHOOL! When I saw that Jeneane Garafolo was in the new Criminal MInds, I was already not very interested in it, but my husband and I did watch a couple of episodes. The reason we like Criminal Minds (the original) is because we like the BAU team (even though we find the show content rather stomach churning at times). So when we didn't find the team compelling, but annoying (although the Whitaker character is interesting, the rest are not) we decided that it was not going to be a show we follow.

So who was the culprit? My husband recorded the beginning, but then we turned it off. I figured the culprit would be someone that would annoy (or infuriate) me, so I wasn't interested, but I couldn't help wonder who they would pin it on.

Big Hollywood : Twenty Most Overrated Films of All Time: Part 1

Wow, how nice of you to write that post. I will have to read it, just for the fact that you took the time to set me straight. That you took that time obviously shows your passion about the book. I do like the character of Melanie in the movie, but Scarlett was held out as the heroine, and I didn't like her "coveting her neighbor's husband", when she had a perfectly handsome man right in front of her, or that she didn't want to have sex with her husband anymore because it would effect her tiny waist if she got pregnant again. (I don't think I got that when I first saw it in the movie theatre, I realized it later) I appreciate your take on it. You succeeded where my mother failed.........

I don't think I would put it #1, but it did ruin the book for me as I would never want to read it after I watched the movie. (Which disappointed my mom) I dislike the character Scarlett, and thought she had lousy character. I didn't really want to spend any more time with such a spoiled brat.

My mom was always upset with me that I wouldn't read the book. After watching the movie in a movie theatre in the 70's I was never interested in the book, because I disliked the character of Scarlett intensely. She was so selfish and always wanted what she couldn't have. Arghhh! I don't enjoy watching spoiled brats. Many times a good movie makes me want to read the book it is based on.........GWTW put me off of the book forever.

Big Government : Mitch Daniels Responds to Critics Over Social Issues 'Truce' and Defense Cuts

Daniels took office after eight years of unbalanced budgets with Indiana facing a $200 million deficit. By the end of his first term, Indiana enjoyed a $1.3 billion surplus and a triple-A bond rating. On his first day as governor he rescinded an executive order giving collective bargaining rights to state employees. Today the number of state employees has fallen to 1982 levels...............If that is wrong I don't want to be right............

I went to my library website to look at the various copies of Bambi, and I could not find another translator listed on any copies. There were adaptations, and shortened versions, but I think they still used Chambers version and just adapted that. I did find this one, but either that is another book besides Bambi or they used a different name. "A forest world, by Felix Salten...English text by Paul R. Milton and Sanford Jerome Greenburger. Illustrated by Bob Kuhn."

LOL Yep. I did not see Bambi until I was an adult, but we did have a batch of Disney records. Bambi's mother died at the end of side one, and I can still remember sitting on the front porch crying when someone came to pick me up to take me to afternoon kindergarten. It is funny how clear that memory is of listening to that record and being told it was time to go. Goodness, how could I go learn after that!

I agree that "Witness" should be required reading! If I could be dictator for a month or so everyone would have to read it! I watched a documentary on the Rosenbergs and their relatives were convinced of their innocence. When confronted with incontrovertible proof of their guilt the relative's attitude was, "Well, at least they stood for principle and didn't tell." Yes, rather than admitting their treason and helping the United States after their awful treason, they chose instead to not confess and give details, and to leave their children orphans. I really couldn't believe that that could be seen as virtuous at all. They stood resolute after helping the most murderous regime there has ever been. Whoopeee!
