If you wished to discredit someone asking questions, you would encourage high profile crack pots to become associated with those asking sensitive questions. The tinfoil hat element serves a purpose to distract and discredit. Whether by intention or not, they corrupt the dialog and confuse the casual listener. Persuasion 101 involves both making your case and tearing down the other's. Look above at all the distractions that have become embedded in what is legitimate questions about how 9/11 came to be and how we handled it.

"Is the author a structural engineer? How many aircraft disasters has he reconstructed?" The letter writer asks an interesting question. Given how much we could have learned about building safer buildings, why was all of the steel from the WTC site so quickly and secretly disposed of? Why didn't we bring in structural engineers to look at the evidence in this crime scene? Why go to extraordinary lengths to isolate the steel and ship it overseas for recycling before studying it?
