Canon EOS 350D (digital rebel xt). It was pretty fancy when it
first came out, but they're quite affordable now. It should work
perfectly for my amateur purposes. Hopefully one day I can give
myself an excuse to spend more money on the hobby.

But really, a camera that can accept different lenses, manual
focusing, and a tripod is all you need.

You'd be surprised with what you can capture.

Wow! That's awesome! However, I'm not sure that what you see in the video is related to the rocket passing through Max-Q. I think what we're seeing in the video is the air effects of the sonic boom. This doesn't necessarily occur simultaneously with Max-Q. For example, the space shuttle usually breaks the sound barrier at approximately 20,000 feet, whereas the shuttle doesn't experience Max-Q until about 35,000 feet. Max-Q represents the point in time that the maximum amount of air pressure is being experienced by a vehicle. You would expect that to take place when the vehicle is moving at it's fastest speed, however since higher altitudes have lower air density, this isn't true. At about 35,000 feet, the Shuttle surpasses the point where the increased air pressure due to velocity is no longer being increased. The decreasing density "outweighs" the effects of velocity. Perhaps I should have just stuck with, "Awesome!".

Being an American, and one that has lived my whole life with a national debt, it's hard for me to quantify what it actually means to me, my family, and future generations. Hasn't America been bankrupt for decades? Deficits and national debt don't seem to have the same effect on the country as they would on a person... thankfully.
