Brave New Traveler : Yoga As Blasphemy? Muslim Clerics Ban Practice

It's a similar reason some people like the idea of meditation, but want it removed from any Buddhist concepts/traditions. I think it's entirely possible to honour the tradition while not having to "accept" these aspects as integral to the value of the practice.

Brave New Traveler : What Would A Global Transformation Look Like?

My favourite quote, "When we do not want to share our world, the only thing left is fundametalism." That goes for both sides of any conflict.

Brave New Traveler : The Travel Wisdom of Bruce Lee

Awesome post! With some excellent quotes. You applied them well to the theme of travel. The one about expectations is my favourite. When setting out on a trip, it's difficult not to get caught up in imagining how amazing it "should" be... that's part of the fun. Letting go of the outcome is key to enjoying yourself.

Matador Life : Ask Adventure Doc: What are Bed Bugs?

My wife and I stayed in a hostel in Cambodia. The bed was full of bed bugs. My wife killed 6 within a few minutes before deeming it time to tell the desk lady. Turns out, she didn't apologize. In fact, she made us prove that the bugs were actually there (we showed her some squished ones). There were no other rooms, so I asked for my money back. She pleaded with me that the money would come out of her salary... eventually I agreed to split the cost of the room and we moved to another hostel. Keep things interesting I guess...

Great post - The Wire is the one of the most important series ever created. Not only is it well put together (acting, storylines, etc) but it offers a complex snapshot of so many issues wrong with the US (and other nations) today.

Definitely - if a skier goes out of clearly marked boundaries they are responsible for what happens, and should cover the costs if their choice impacts others (such as rescue workers).
