The Senior Living business is getting saturated and over built. The economy is bad and seniors are not selling their homes. The facility over by Flatirons Mall, Stratford at FlatIrons has hardly sold any IL apartments. My friend has a parent that lives there. They have done drastic price cuts to get people to move in and that's not helping either. They were selling at around $4500 last year and now you can get in at a much lower price. They only have 11 or 12 people that live in their independent living side and they have been open a year. It wasn't hard for my friend to get them to reduce the price more. I don't know how long their business can make it at that pace and their owner, Sunrise, has had their own financial struggles over the past few years. Balfour's new section is not doing that well either and they cancelled building a new senior living community in Denver because of the economy. They have also dropped their price significantly over the past year. Boulder has alot of senior living competition now. I think it will be a struggle for them to sell this new facility in Boulder. I wish them the best and I hope someday I can live in a place like that. .
