I think there are two aspects here, and most people are unwilling to look at both of them. The first aspect is our current recession that, yes, did begin under Bush and was prompted further down by his bailout of the banking system. The economy does seem to be showing signs of coming out of that one. Unfortunately, it is not by any act that Obama has made as such acts take at least a year to come to full fruition in the direction they will go. That said, the second part is what Obama has done to try and "rescue" the economy. As we begin to come out of the "Bush" recession, we're going to get sideswiped by the Obama policies that are going to completely throw this economy into a tail-spin. We're getting the little bump before the fall right now. I hope people are taking this opportunity to get prepared for the rough ride ahead.

All, I have learned of a site that we could also help with in creating more government transparency. It's called the Transparency Corps and they are looking for people to help. It seems to coincide with the Watchdog approach as they are asking for people to look for earmarks in bills, get information for legislators (including local ones), so it can all be posted into a single searchable location. I'm working on getting information input into that site as well to enable people to see what their politicians are doing, and I believe it is potentially an excellent resource to augment what we are trying to accomplish. The insurance companies are part of the problem with their healthcare bill? I would buy that. I seem to recall reading articles about the insurance companies being very supportive of the obamacare. If they are supportive, then they are part of the problem...just like Pelosi is.

Isn't it amazing how blatantly all of the pundits lied on this one? In other forums where I have been repeatedly beat up for making comments they have stated that the funding would use embryos from fertility clinics to gather the stem cells and they wouldn't create new embryos for new lines. Oh how transparent they all are. Whether or not you agree with embryonic stem cell research, you have to admit to the lies that have been given so bold face to us all. I'm not surprised by the lies, but I don't like them either.

This is where the MSM just doesn't get it. From the article, "The president's drop in the polls apparently doesn't equal a similar rise for Republicans." Don't they understand that we are fed up with all of the politicians? I find it incredible that people just don't get this simple fact. Nearly all of the politicians in Washington and in the different states are out for their own interests, not the interests of the people. The sooner the nation figures this out, the faster we can effect real and meaningful changes that can bring this country back to the greatness that it once had.

Unfortunately I don't see any of the politicians in congress really leading other than a select few. And before everyone starts railing on me for this statement, please read through it all. The ones I see really leading in Washington today are Obama and Pelosi. They have put themselves in front of everything and are truly trying to lead. They are going down a path and expect that others will follow, but regardless of how others feel, they are continuing down that path. Now that being said, I believe they are leading in the absolute wrong direction. They are leading toward the destruction of this great nation. They are leading to a place that will cause far more harm to the people of our nation than people not leading. But we must all admit that they are leading.

No wonder the nut jobs in Washington want this global warming bill passed as soon as possible. From the article, "Carbon trading worldwide reached $126 billion in 2008. Banks, which profit most, are calling for more. Experts are predicting the carbon market will reach $2 - $10 trillion in the near future. Hot air will soon be the largest single commodity traded on global exchanges." Since they are all so full of hot air, they will all become very wealthy indeed. On a side note, I find the point about banks interesting. Especially since we can see just how controlling a central bank has been on our economy. We went from a nation of savors to a nation of debtors in just a short few years after the creation of the Federal Reserve. Just think what this will do to our liberties by bringing the air we breathe into a central bank.

Anyone believing Waxman saying, "the creation of a non-partisan, independent advisory council called IMAC. Comprised of doctors and health experts, IMAC would monitor the costs of Medicare." is a fool. Haven't we proven in almost every case that oversight panels, however well intended, do very little to actually help a situation? The fact that you require an oversight panel for Medicare should tell you a great deal Mr. Waxman. The people are opening their eyes to what congress has been doing for the last several decades and are getting ready to step in to oversee you ... by kicking you out of office, along with all of the other congressional representatives that are playing the shell game in Washington. The time to act is now. Find good people, help them campaign, help build and garner support for these people. Unseat the incumbents that are running for reelection next year. We must take our country back one vote at a time!

I enjoyed your points, and just to be fair for the trolls that comb the site let's ask a few follow-on questions: When George W. Bush pushed TARP did you approve? When George W. Bush said we needed to abandon the free market did you approve? When George W. Bush extended the deficit spending did you approve? When George W. Bush borrowed billions of dollars from China to send every American a check, did you approve? My answer to these questions is no. I suspect, from my readings of others comments, that others on this site are in line with my thoughts. We have been getting our liberties sold so we can buy things from countries that would rather own us. It's time to take the country back and be the people our grandparents were.

I have two points to make regarding this one. 1. If it was wrong then, it is wrong now. If Obama states he doesn't believe in such things and then proceeds to do them, he shows himself to be a hypocrite. 2. If what Obey states is true, I'll actually thank Obama for this one. Toward the bottom of the article, "Obey and the other House lawmakers said this week that Obama's signing statement on the war bill will make it tougher in the future to persuade other lawmakers to support the World Bank and IMF." Thanks Obama for helping to make the world bank and the IMF more obsolete. I can't stand these two institutions and don't understand why we continue to prop them up.

Here's the thing; if this waits until after the break, we have a little more time to really get the word out and contact our representatives. Hopefully if they hear from enough of us it will help continue to dissuade them from voting in favor of this bill. Just know that there is going to be plenty of pressure put on them from the White House and other such special interest groups. Now is not a time to cheer. Now is a time to redouble our efforts and make sure this bill is DOA when the legislature reconvenes if it truly is held off for after the break.

Look, I'm completely against this healthcare reform bill, but do people need to be so stupid as to say something like this quote from the article, "In recent days, DeMint has declared that if Republicans defeat Obama's health reform efforts, it will be Obama's "Waterloo" -- and that it will "break" the president."? I don't care about 'breaking' the president. I care about the issues. I can't stand the issues he stands for, and want him to fail in such regards. To call forth an outright attack on the man, to me, is a loosing battle no matter how you spin it. You don't have the media on your side, this can do little more than backfire.

It's about time for him to learn that he cannot usurp the networks at his whim. The networks also need to learn that he is not the ratings savior they were hoping for. His approval ratings are in a decline (though I would like to see more of a free fall in them). As go the president's approval ratings, the network ratings will follow so long as they keep to the same bed as him. I'm tired of watching television and have nearly stopped as it is little more than individuals spouting opinions anymore. There is very little, if any, story-telling on the shows that are on. The news doesn't cover what is going on; it seems to be masked by the lens of the people "reporting" it. I hope that the networks can come to a realization that giving people entertainment will overall help them. Giving people actual facts will truly help them.

The sad thing is that N.K. may be acting like unruly children, but these people are showing their parenting techniques. Is it any wonder children across the nation are in such dire circumstances? To be able to get away with anything with little more than a finger waving, and when things don't go the way the child wants and they throw a tantrum the parents say "I'm sorry"? The US is not the parents of N. Korea, but this is a very good parable as the US should be considered a power that N. Korea needs to deal with. Unfortunately the US is acting more like France of late in this regard.
