Howefitz Blog : Glee, I Hate You (But I Can't Quit You)

That smiley icon looks evil somehow. If you try to use this knowledge against me, I have an army of Gleeks on my side. Just sayin.

Incidentally, I\\\'ve blogged about Glee before. Last time I focused on the fathers in the show: http://www.howefitz.com/blog/glee-delivers-an-une...

See, that\\\'s what I\\\'m talking about! John Freaking Stamos? Seriously? That\\\'s enough to chase me away from any other show. But I\\\'m sure I\\\'ll be tuning in next season to see how they make that work! (I repeat, Damn you, Glee!)

Clark Kent's Lunchbox : Me Write Pretty One Day

HA! I have the same syndrome. I remember meeting Paul Dini once. I had a battered copy of Batman Adventures: Mad Love that I wanted him to sign. As I got closer to the table, I panicked. What was I doing getting this beat up old comic signed? All the questions I had in my head about how he wrote everything from Batman the Animated Series and Ewoks went away and was replaced with shame for not taking better care of one of my all-time favorite Batman books. With shaky hand, I slid the comic to him and mumbled 'I-I've read it a lot...' To which he answered, 'That's good.' and signed my faded dog-eared comic. I booked it out of there. The thing to remember here is: at least we went to the table. How many people don't even do that? Congrats, man. And to echo other sentiments here: your writing rocks, and will only improve through experiences like these!

Clark Kent's Lunchbox : Parental Alienation Awareness Day

Ron, thanks for this post. I had no idea this had a name. As far as the 'awareness' goes, you've done your job. As a parent who 'knows best', it's tough drawing that line, especially when the other parent really isn't a very good person. It's good to hear that your situation is improving, sounds like you and your ex are handling this pretty well.

Howefitz Blog : Sunday Sermon: Happy Easter! But... Don't We Have This A Little Mixed Up?

Thanks, John!

In my opinion, everything is overly commercialized. I never thought I\\\'d see the day that Walmart would have a huge selection of exclusive eco-friendly products for Earth Day.

None the less, commercialism isn\\\'t necessarily a bad thing. If there\\\'s money being made, at least that means that the idea is spreading and popular. But on the flip-side, we sometimes get so caught up in buying things that we miss out on why we buy the things in the first place!

Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

Even though I find myself questioning most things faith-based these days, since I was raised Christian, my questioning tends to lean toward Christian. But many of these questions have been with me since I was a child. I feel it\\\'s good for us as parents to question the way we were raised and decide for ourselves how we want to raise our children. But then we can\\\'t be upset when our kids grow up and change how they raise their kids! ;)

I am not a literal one, either. Which is why I ask so many questions about our cultures and how we wound up where we are. If I were literal, I would be ashamed that Adam ate the apple that gave him knowledge.

...But wouldn\\\'t God feel more gratification if we had a choice, and we chose Him? Or do we always tend to layer human emotions on to God when it may not even be warranted?

Rednecks need love too. True story: one year when I was working as a photo tech in a wal-mart, my boss decided to put together \\\'redneck valentines\\\'. These consisted of a balloon filled with: lingerie, a six pack of beer, ... and Polaroid film. We sold a ton until his boss found out! ;)

Sorry if I seemed degrading. I was just going for the \\\'maybe I\\\'ll get a cheap laugh from being ignorant\\\' thing. No offense intended!

It is all a matter of taste. There might be something to romance novels beyond the steamy cover illustration and sensational title. Sometimes I like a good crime noir novel with plenty of sex and violence. Does this make me a bad or even questionable person? I hope we\\\'re not judged by our choices of entertainment, that would just be wrong!
