It was really scary and still is! It just happened out of the blue and I almost died. I know you are a nurse so you know this, but the blood thinner does not disolve the clots, but only helps to prevent new ones.They did a thrombectomy to remove the big one in my lungs. My body has to absorb the old ones over time, so I have been in daily fear of it happening again. I'm doing pysical therapy, being active and exercising though my hip pain and doing everything I can to move the process along. No easy fix. It will be a fine line to determine when I can have the hip replacement because I have to go off the blood thinners for awhile before the surgery. I am working closely with the surgeon and the hematologist, who have been fantastic. I will be so ready to move on from this chapter and kick some butt. :-) I do kinda blame Kaiser for this for making me wait so long until I lose so much mobility. But that's a whole nother story. ugh

Happy Memorial Day Crasspeeps. Thought I would check in this long weekend morning. I'm meeting up with daughter & GBabe in a bit for coffee at a cool new roaster hipster place. Then off to watch GBabe boogie board at the beach. She's also now big into gymnastics. It's been so fun being here to witness her growth. She is so fun. Late Feb, I had a saddle pulmonary embolism which landed me in the ICU & hospital for a few days. I was waiting on my hip replacement which was scheduled for 4/28. They think the combination of increased sitting (tax season) and limited mobility because of my hip pain brought it on. I am now taking blood thinner injections for a couple of months. Hopefully I will be able to go ahead and have my surgery in July. I can then get back to my swimming and the gym and proceed with life. This year has been brutal on so many levels, but I have a renewed gratitude for life and love. Because I have been mostly at home the past couple of months, I have been transforming my home office into a guest bedroom and art studio. I'm pretty excited about how it is turning it out. It's a cool misty morning and I'm burning some pinon incense. Gbabe is coming over for a slumber party tonight and a fun girls day tomorrow. For the first time since I adopted Lilibet, we are going to put up & decorate my Christmas tree. Lili is a terror, so this should end well. But I need some holiday joy this year more than ever. Bring on the Christmas music, cookies and decorations!

It's arthritis, but I also have djd in my lower spine. All of the years sitting on my butt bent over doing taxes has done a number on my hips and spine. I'm trying to be more proactive now. I have a standing desk, but I only work about 10 hours or less a week when it's not tax season and about 25 hours tax season. I used to work many many more hours before I cut back. Public accounting back in the day was not for sissies LOL

I'm so glad to hear they were a success! Hopefully it will work for me too. He said if it doesn't, we'll have to schedule surgery. I'm all for waiting. I already have one implant on my right side from 12 years ago. So far so good on that one.

So I finally had my consultation with the surgeon for my hip. He said he wants to try pain injections first. I had an injection directly into the joint and it hurt like hell! But I have to say this was a week ago and my pain is completely gone! I'm back going to the gym with my classes and feel great. I don't know how long it will last, but I'm here for each day without pain. Doc said it could last a few weeks, a few months or even longer. Playing it by ear.
