My father used to watch the police fight strikers before the war. Now having worked in both union and non union plants I can say this. The union protects the late, lazy and unproductive far more aggressively than those who simply do their job. Then turns around to spend workers dues on causes most of them do not support. It is true that we would be in bad shape without the early efforts of unions. It is equally true that what they are now are parasites.
