Two lane for cars each direction (same as before). Merge two bike lane (east and west side) to one wide, with a concert barrier so bikes only cross traffic at corners and flashing yellow lights. This prevents cars and bikes crossing pass in the green paint. Opening of course for drive ways.

You're not really correct... On Elmer's Two Mile you are protected from traffic all the way from Iris to Mapleton. From there you take 26th to Pine and Pine to 13th. Folsom is only protected from Canyon to Valmont.

Folsom seems to be a logical path from north Boulder to Farmer's Market. There is a bike path (Elmer's 2 mile). The transportation department doesn't like to acknowledge it run parallel to Folsom. Then pick up Boulder Creek Trail. Most of Folsom in fact doesn't have protective barrier. Plus, the barrier aren't really protective. I don't really believe they would stop a car. It seems like a simpler approach to Folsom, would be to merge the original two (one north one south)bike lanes to one. Most bike paths in Boulder don't have two separate lanes for biking. Then put up concrete barriers between 4 lanes of traffic and bike path, with opening at intersection. This would also eliminate bikers and cars crossing each other at intersections. I can not see bikers or drivers having and issue with this plan Just curious are there any living lab projects West of Broadway?

I see in your link a statement about extensive education of bikers as well as drivers. Yet I don't see you requesting bikers be require to take driver training. Amsterdam also has a large network of canals, which they use in the winter for skating instead of biking. Seems like your selective very selective and only see what you wish to see in the report.

Daily Camera.com: : Residents of Boulder\'s Whittier neighborhood feel burden of commuter parking - Boulder Daily Camera

The only way it would work if for the city to reduce the number of commuter permits to the number in the agreement with the neighborhood. They should stop selling more permit than actually spaces exist. The city should also have "park n ride" lots like every other large city on the front range. Only the commercial developers and the city profit from neighborhood parking.

Daily Camera.com: : Residents of Boulder\'s Whittier neighborhood feel burden of commuter parking - Boulder Daily Camera

The only blocks with no commuters are the ones near former city council person. The city signed an agreement with the neighborhood 20 years ago to allow a limited number of commuters. This was to allow the city time to find a long term solution for parking. In those 20 year the NPP management has done nothing to find solutions. They've instead doubled the number of commuter permits. Molly's word like many other city employees are pure fiction. The NPP management chooses to turn a blind eye to over parking. She like many other in the city government ignore residents of the neighborhood and work for the benefit of commercial developers. Under the agreement the NPP management was to maintain "livable " family neighborhoods. Instead Molly and her team prefer to provide cheap parking for commuters and employees. This increases the profits for the city and for commercial developers. The city's state goal is to reduce traffic into downtown and increase mass transit ridership. Instead NPP management has doubled the number of commuters into downtown and on our side streets.

Daily Camera.com: : Virtual Editorial Board: Boulder parking planning - Boulder Daily Camera

"The Neighborhood Parking Permit program, adopted in the mid-1990s, prioritizes what Winter calls "neighborhood livability."" This statement was made by Molly Winter to Daily Camera this week. It that really true or does city preach mass transit and limiting traffic while turning our neighborhoods into virtual parking lots? The city would prefer to sell 350 parking spaces in our neighborhood and increase the profits of commercial developers to keeping our "neighborhood livability". For the city it's $11K per year profit. For the commercial developer it mean he can rent commercial space to more people and not supply places to park. They know the city will put the burden of parking on the neighborhoods. So city sides with commercial developers and leave families with no ability to park near their homes. Question is how many commuter parking spaces did the city put in the Transit Village / Boulder Junction to help commuters make use of mass transit into downtown? The answer is zero.

"The Neighborhood Parking Permit program, adopted in the mid-1990s, prioritizes what Winter calls "neighborhood livability." True fiction.... The city is interested only in more revenue. The city will sell 4 commuter permits on each side of a block. The next is no reduction in parking on streets near downtown. It simple shift from short term parking to long term commuter permits. The city doesn't even comply with what was agreed to in the NPP agreement with the residents of existing NPP>

Folsom isn't a 4 lane street north of Valmont. So your clearly wrong on that point. There is also a bike path (elmer 2 mile) that run from parallel to Folsom. I use it all the time. This is just another case of city council. Not allowing voters to have a voice in city decisions. City council pandering to special interest groups for political support. City council creating friction between segments in Boulder. Planners who don't know how to make them better for all interests.

The City Council words don't match their actions. They speak about taking drivers our of their cars and using mass transit. At the same time they sell 350 cheap commuter parking permits in downtown Boulder and the number of permits grows every year. Instead of building park and ride lots like most cities, they sell permits to park in middle class neighborhoods.

This just shows the city council is not representative of the people . They divide people along political issues for their own political gain. It's not about making Boulder better. It's about getting special interest to support city council's political agenda.

Boulder needs to modernize the city government. It's old and out dated and put too much power in the hand of the city council. The city manager and city attorney are really employees of the city council. They should be employees of the residents of the city. The mayor is a member of and elected by city council. The city manager, city attorney, and mayor should be in place to allow a balance of power to exist in Boulder. We need city council more focused on short term issues. All long term decisions should be made by the voters.
