Film School Rejects : Review: 'State of Play' is Boring, Period.

I hate it when people say "The English version was much better," or "The book was much better," but in the case of State of Play, I can say that both the book and the BBC's mini-series were so far superior to the Russell Crowe/Ben Affleck/Helen Mirren version, that it defies the senses. Nothing against the stars, but rent the DVD of the British version and you'll see what I mean.

Film School Rejects : \'Atlas Shrugged\' to be Just as Boring in Film Form

All I remember about the book is that those people who were best at whatever they did, whether in science, the arts, astronomy, etc., were whisked off to a secret location (no, definitely not the one Cheney used to hang out) where great progress for mankind could be made without interference from politics, the ill-informed, or zealots.

The two actresses most equipped to play Dagny aren't even mentioned: Tilda Swinton and Hillary Swank. Did you really ridicule Atlas Shrugged? Then I guess that plane won't be picking you up.

Film School Rejects : Sundance Review: Tyson

Like Julian, I think this is a great review. I've met Tyson who, when he stands in a doorway, blocks out the sun. At first, I felt like I was about to shake hands with a ticking bomb, one that Jack Bauer missed, but there was a sense of shyness about Tyson, almost gentleness. Maybe that was a false sense, dunno. But I wouldn't want to date him.
