I know it is "Big Brother watching you" but in this day and age we need it to deter crime. I don't like goverment watching over my shoulder but I want the police to see the person hurting a child. There are good points and bad. I believe the good far out-weigh the bad.

They do not have to count or even read english. I know of a couple of carriers, from our neighbor to the south, that do not read english. They barely speak it. They deliever the mail by matching the address with street signs and numbers. It is a wonder we get mail at all. Maybe if they LOWERED the postal rate more people would mail things. I know I would. I do not send cards (Christmas, Easter, Valentines Day, etc.) because it cost too much!!!!!

So tell the DMA what the other options are. The fact is anywhere there is a jail, people will be released into that community. It is still better to have them in a house were they are supervised than on the street! I was told by the DMA there would be no sex offenders. The county might have other ideas but the house would still be the property of (as renters), and run by, the DMA.

I was told by members of the DMA that there would be no sex offenders housed in this house. This was also told to the couple that was being interviewed. I heard this myself. Yes, they would be required to attend a least one Bible study a week. Yes, the DMA would pay there way at first. The DMA does not have the funds to pay for everything. From what I understand. the man does have some kind of experience in a similiar situation. I have been told what it was but since I got third hand I will not repeat it here. From what I heard and saw, I believe the couple would compliment each other in this position.

I am sorry that you miss-heard. There wil be NO sex offenders in this house!!! The rules have not been worked out yet. The Dallas Ministerial Association CAN reject any person appling to rent. Yes, there would be full time supervision. Yes, they will be looking for work (they have to py the rent, buy food, buy clothing, etc.). The "residence" will maintain the house and yard. Where, in Dallas, is there an house that fits the needs and is not in the area of a school, daycare, playground, etc.? The people that are released from the Polk County Jail must live in the area so they can have contact with the county officals that supervise them. Message to our kids? How about 'everyone deserves a second chance'. Also, if you know of a house that is better, please let the DMA know.

DON'T listen to rumors. Talk to people that are involved. Do not take anything secondhand. Check out anything you hear. Even the things I have posted. Contact the Dallas Ministerial Association. They re the ones that will being running this house, not the county.

For how long? I am for them being punished. I don't say "make the punishment fit the crime". I say make the punishment FAR WORSE than the crime. But lets face it. The jails are full and it cost a lot to support inmates in the jails.

I was there when the couple was being interviewed. I did not hear the whole conversation but what I did hear I thought was enough. The couple would not cook meals. They were to help show the "residences" a stable lifestyle. He is a big man that I don't think I would want to mess with. She seemed to be a caring "motherly" figure. I would say they are in their early to mid fifties. They would call 911 if there was an immediate problem. They would talk to the county if it was a minor problem. They were looking at two small rooms where they could have privacy but would spend most of their time living with the "residences". She did ask if she could cook for them occasionally and was told she could do as she pleased in that respect. They were being interviewed by the man that is heading up this project.

I have a connection with this project. I ask all of you, which is better, having the felons in a house where they are monitered or out on the street living in their cars, under trees, in empty houses, etc.? This house would have a FULL time manager living in the house. The "residences" would have strict rules to follow or they would have to move. No one wants to children or anyone else hurt. I have three children myself and have asked myself how I feel about this (the house is four blocks from my home). This is not a fantastic solution but it is better than no supervision. We have to realize that the people coming out of prison will need a place to live, no matter what crime they committed. Sometimes all they need is a second chance. What if they were your relative?
