I know I would and that is why I have so much respect for the kind and helping people in this world. At the end of the day you want to see how you are changing or impacting the world and this is one way that you would be impacting someone’s life in such an amazing way. There are so many other little ways you can impact someone besides just feeding them. There are s many people looking for help. So if you have the resources, why not help out? If the roles were reversed you would wish someone had that mindset that could help you. You never know, that can happen one day. Do a good deed and maybe one will return your way. Evaluate your priorities and see what is important to you at the end of the day.
I think a lot of that has to come from his personal emotions due to his past experience from being in that position or close to it. I think that it is such an important thing to help out others we just need the motivation and resources to be able to do that. I have so much respect for people that do the kinds acts like we saw in the video in today’s class. Not only is it a very caring act but it is also rewarding to see yourself changing or impacting the lives of others. Some of the people we saw in the video today only eat when he comes and that is it. One guy even said that he had not eaten in three days. Can you imagine living that way? Wouldn’t you want someone to help you if you were in that same situation?
I thought the video we watched in class today was so moving and caring. I have so much respect for him and his family helping out the immigrants the way that they have been. It is even more amazing to see that most of it is funded out of his own pocket and he does not miss one day of handing out meals and drinks to the homeless immigrants. If I was in the position of helping immigrants that were homeless and hungry that were living around me I would love to do that and make someone’s life, who is struggling, just a little bit better if anything. Although, I think the biggest set back would be funding for this kind act. It is so moving to see that he does not even think about the cost but he does state that if he did he would become worried. We need so many more people with his motivation and mind set.
There are tons of opportunities out there. Find one and live life. You can not fight nepotism. Nothing is going to make it disappear. You need to learn to rise past it and find your own way towards your goal. There is no reason to dwell and make excuses for yourself because it is unfair. I would definitely take advantage of a good opportunity if it presented itself and I hope most others would as well. I honestly can not think of a good reason why someone would not take a good opportunity if it was presented to them unless it is not as good of an opportunity as they would like or there is someone making them feel guilty about the opportunity.
Yes, we get jealous or angry but if we were in the same position most of use would make the same choice as that person. Life is not ever fair and I really do not think it will be any time soon. We have to live with what is available and presented to us. If it helps us great, if it does not then look for another opening to allow yourself to progress. You have to look at it this way too, what if you were the parent of a child that really needed a some help getting a job and you were able without struggle to get them a job, wouldn’t you? It works both ways between the people who accept the help and people who give it. A little help has the power to completely change someone’s life. Life is what you make of it. If you constantly focus on how unfair life is then you will be put behind and you will not succeed. Instead you just have to move on and find another way.
Honestly, I believe that it is something that will always be here and is not going to just disappear. Everyone is not going to come together at some point and agree that it is the wrong thing to do. So my answer to the question is no. I would try t benefit from the situation because sadly you get ahead most of the time from the people you know and the connections you have, not the hard work you put into it. If other people are benefiting that way, then why shouldn’t I? It all comes down to looking out for yourself and helping yourself survive with the opportunities you are presented in life. If I happen to get a good opportunity through somebody I know, then great! The same goes for somebody else. If they have a really good opportunity just because they know someone then good for them.
We are one of the richest countries and yet we still need to invade a poorer country for the one resource that they have to help themselves out. We would never let something like that happen in our country but yet we feel that it is the right thing to do to someone else. Although I have strayed away from the main question, yes I thought this was a very intense and very good class. It was definitely ranked as one of the highest of the semester so far. I hope there are more eye opening lectures like this one during the last few weeks of the semester. Can not wait to see what is up next!
Oh yea, and shoot it up before hand. I do not understand why the American soldiers were even worried because it was not their wood or from their base. It was just as disturbing to see the soldiers run the truck off the road for not going fast enough. Those people are a complete disgrace to America. Our soldiers are supposed to be trained, well mannered and do their job, not harm people and their things for no reason. There was no sign of violence from the other countries part at all. That was all us who initiated it. I do not support our war at all. I believe we are over there for a ridiculous reason and it is all greed. We need to pull out of there and leave these poor people alone and leave what is rightfully theirs alone. If I was from their country I would see us as selfish, greedy and jerks.
I really enjoyed this class. I think it was an eye opener to a lot of people that are completely for one side of the story. Sam used a lot of good examples to get his point across. I really like the whole “imagine you are from the middle east” . I believe that this was one of the best classes so far. I think everyone enjoyed it and it got everybody thinking in one way or another. The only thing I was confused about for a little bit was what he was trying to get across with the “jihad” video. At first I really thought it was his friend who sent him the video and he was acting serious afterwards, but I guess it was supposed to mock the guy? I wish he would have explained his intentions more relating to that video. I was really disturbed to see what a power trip the American soldiers were having when they felt that they needed to demolish the people’s truck with a tank, that were taking the wood.
You all look the same! One little detail does not “push it past the line”. A lot of guys seem to prefer the laid back and comfy looking girls anyway. They do not always like the uptight uncomfortable look. They want someone they can be comfortable around and relate to. Yea the look might make them stare for a couple of seconds but that is JUST because of the look not who you actually are. A true way to win over a guy is to just be yourself, not what everyone else wants you to be. That is what I have to say about that topic.
