/Film : This Week in DVD: Quantum of Solace, Bolt, Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter, and More

Adam's point in how well TV shows age is a good one though. There are a lot of shows that I remember fondly but have no intention of watching again because I know they'll suck; most of them being mid to late 90s sitcoms. I'm not sure how that works on something that's 6 years old that I saw as an adult and enjoyed, but things we remember fondly as kids/teenagers definitely are not as good as we remember.

/Film : No Cash For Tango: Kurt Russell Turns Down Role in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables

I think it's more being a fan of what all the people represented back in the day than what they are now. Individually, each actor gets a 'meh', but put them together in one project that hearkens back to what made them all famous in the first place and it definitely becomes intriguing.

That's basically what I was trying to get at with my above comment. A movie that depends on a major twist or one that could potentially be ruined if the twist gets out is probably a movie that isn't going to work.

The closest thing I can think of off the top of my head is 'Idiocracy' as a movie with a great story/idea but contains such crappy acting and dialogue that it completely ruins the movie. I think it's more rare for a movie to only have a great plot and nothing else going for it than a movie to only have cinematography, dialogue, action sequences, etc carrying it; which is probably why the backlash over your comment.

I'm hoping he meant plot more as "twist ending" rather than "complete story" there because that I can agree with. Directors like M. Night Shyamalan only care about the twist ending, which causes most of his films to suffer. He thinks that if you pull a fast one on the audience they'll all gasp and applaud his smartness at an ending we didn't see coming; even though by the time his ending comes, we're usually over the rest of the film and just want it to be over.

/Film : Battlestar Galactica Series Finale - What Did You Think?

The playing out of the Opera House vision was fantastic, probably the best moment of the finale. Toss in the Final Five resurrection stuff and it made for a satisfying conclusion. Most of what happened was pretty meh, if only because they had to tie up story lines so they really couldn't bring new stuff. Shows like this get their 'holy shit that's awesome' moments from twists and turns they take, they couldn't do any of that here, so I think some people are going to be let down a little because of that. But overall, as a story conclusion, a final act of a 4 season movie, I think it was good. I do agree the flashbacks during the final 2 episodes were a bit much, the only one that I thought was good was Baltar's, that seemed to be the only one that really tied in to the end of his story.

There hasn't been one bit of info from Avatar that really interests me. Of course that could be because there's been almost no news from Avatar of any substance save for the movie's release date getting way pushed back and that it's costing a ton of money. But at least we have about 5 dozen pics of Cameron on the set. I get the feeling we may be on the way to a Waterworld type disaster.

It looks like the cane is one of the control levers in the cockpit, which I guess if he's falling apart makes sense. It's almost kind of clever...until you think about it and then it's just stupid. I'll still be there opening night though.
