you are entitled to your opinion which is fine, but the one issue i have with your last post is that the two "at theTop" were the ones who coached that 10-0 JV squad. Also it's not the same team, a couple kids moved, a handful (of starters) were hurt/sick for the majority/all of the season. So that strong JV squad isn't the same when 6 or 7 of them are not on the field for le***imately unfortunate reasons. and 2 of the most talented players moved away. Is the team still talented yes, but does losing depth hurt a team yes. All of their loses, but one were close games, no blow-outs like Orland has been consistently in previous years. Be patience and support. The kids will love you for it.

The other 3 teams (Orland, Gridley,Winters) have had recent coaching turnovers and all are building (and ironically all missed the playoffs this year). Is every player going to like the coach no, but i've seen overwhelming support of the coaches from students at OHS. Just like some players like and disliked Peterson/Crosswhite and even Cato. Every team in the D2 playoffs this year, coaching staffs have been in place for at least 5 years(Sutter, Wheatland, CV, WV, Anderson, LAssen) Like even A20GM, feels about Peterson 2 years is not long enough to evaluate a program/coach, it takes time at least 3-5 years.
Orland needs to give it time the program is improving.

Spartan 5193 you bring up some valid points about the same old debate. But in high school football if you build a system around players, the players will never get better, and the system will be changing every year, and you will have what Orland has always had, no consistancy. Corning runs wing-t always have and always will, and they have a great program, West Valley has run the fly for 10 years, Wheatland and Sutter the 2 most dominating teams in the Butte view league has had the same coaching staffs and systems in place for many years, that's why they are dominating teams in the league.

What else people dont realize is that was a junior heavy team (7 juniors starting on Offense and 7 Juniors starting on defense). The 232 points Orland scored this season is the most any Orland team has scored in a 10 game season in 10 years according to www.calpreps.com. And before the season started in July calpreps.com predicted Orland to finish 3-7 based on the number of returning starters and schedule. This season wasn't all doom and gloom, they beat Hamilton, which is huge! won the ax for the second year in a row, which none of coach Mcdonald's predicesors did ( in the last 10 years), and defeated Winters which Orland has not done in 5 years. Ironically Winters was also a junior heavy team who finished 5-5, and missed the playoffs, those juniors in 2009 as sophmores had a JV season of 9-1, only loss to..... Orland. Do we have a lot of talent yes, but what people tend to forget, is so do the other teams in our league.
