Even if your representative happens to be a democrat, contact them anyway. I have found the most effective way of contacting them is when they are home visiting their districts. Set up an appointment to visit your representative in person. The reaction by their staff is eye-popping when you contact them to set the appointment..........they want to know what you wish to visit about etc..................just tell them "you weren't voted into office so why do you need to know what I want to talk to my representative about?" Be just like a prisoner of war...............Name, Rank and serial number. Give them your name, that you are a constituent, and where you live and your phone number. That is sufficient information form them to do a background check to make sure your not a physical threat. Once you meet with your representative be armed with facts regarding Fast and Furious and judge the reaction you get. Then demand they follow up with what they plan to do.
