It is going to be a part of the battle that the President-elect has been waging for a long time. The embedded interests will not just lay down and play dead, nor go easy. Mr Obama will need to continue to call on the power of the voters to pressure individual congressmen to the point they begin to recognize that we will no longer accept their failure to represent us.
If the system funds the education the individual should be responsible for putting back into the system, either with money or service.
Agreed the problem of the taxpayer accepting responsibility for the health care of people who refuse to take care of themselves is a problem. Perhaps the solution lies in finding away to reward those who are taking care of themselves with a tax credit or some other method that acknowledges and encourage good preventative health practices.
