Ok, I confess! I had to check in tonight to see if there was a winner. What's this about the piece of the dream winners? Did they give away smaller prizes? Could this be what John was referring to when he said "somebody won something" oh.... about a week back after the river photo he posted? Ok... well, I guess I'll keep dreaming then because GOODNESS KNOWS.... we really need a house or some help to get a house. I don't know how else we could do it at this point so this would be truly an incredible gift/ prize for us and our two kids. I know I would have tears of joy for days and weeks if we were so blessed! Best of luck to all on board here, I know everyone wants to win! Let's keep up the good vibes and supportive posts so that whoever does win can enjoy it and we can all be happy for them. Just wondering, in the past... were the winners bloggers and did they announce themselves on here or did they stay pretty low key? HGTV.... can you give us another clue soon, such as.... which state are you going to ambush soon or has it already happened? That would be just fabulous!!! Thanks again for making this so much fun and keeping this DREAM ALIVE for all of us! :)

I LOVE that they have set up THIS SWEEPSTAKES, as when you really think about it.... in the end there are many winners: 1) The actual prize winners; 2) All those who designed and built the homes as each home must bring in tons of building and renovating opportunities from their fans; and of course, 3) HGTV wins.... because we all love what they are offering.... a chance of a lifetime to win a home... so they keep us pinned to our screens! Honestly, when I use to go the gym, HGTV was the one channel I would faithfully put on and watch while working out. They always lifted my spirits and satisfied that artistic part of me that craves beauty in all things... home and garden especially. But today..... I just want to know if anyone won yet. My heart is aching at this point.... with the probability that I didn't win, but the slight chance that I still might have a chance. Can anyone relate to this aching heart feeling/experience? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... TELL US SOON! IS IT OVER, or should we still hold out hope? Thanks if you can help us all get a good night's sleep! I've been struggling a bit......

I think that "subject to change" gives them a lot of flexibility to change the dates in the rules. It's written in there for good reasons I am sure, as I can imagine at least a few scenarios where they would need more time, such as: 1) Let's just say the winner is out of the country on a 2 week business trip? Then they would have to wait for him/ her to come home. 2) Or suppose the winner is needed at their workplace for a time before they might "quit" and when HGTV notified their coworkers/boss about their name being selected, perhaps the higher ups begged them to wait one or two more weeks until they can get coverage. 3) Supposed the winner is a pregnant soon to be mother and she goes into false labor on two or three separate occasions at exactly the times the HGTV shows up at her home... and no one is there. You just never know what scenario may pop up. I feel there is a 50/50 chance here that the ambush has NOT happened yet... and therefore we can keep checking each day.... just because... all of us here have HIGH HOPES AND BIG DREAMS.... and would be ECSTATIC BEYOND MEASURE..... if we won this Dream Home. Yup, I'm one of you, too. Good Luck Everyone!!!

Hawthorne Tree with Red Berries.... they grow from California to Maine..... just don't eat the seeds! ... but a friend of mine has taken the herb for her cardiac condition under a doctor's care... and it has helped her. Pretty neat, huh? http://www.eattheweeds.com/the-crataegus-clan-foo... Culinary and Medicinal Uses Both ancient and modern herbalists have successfully used hawthorn for its food and health benefits. Modern science shows that hawthorne contains chemical components which are sedative, anti-spasmodic and diuretic. If you intend to use it for medicinal purposes, look for C. laevigata, C. monogyna, or C. pinnatifida, as these hybrids are known best for their medicinal uses. Read how to make a tincture or an infusion using hawthorne flowers or berries. The hawthorne berry is one of the best cardiac tonics available, and is often used to treat high blood pressure. Hawthorne berries are used to treat childhood diabetes. See Cautions. Hawthorne flower tea is a safe diuretic. Hawthorne berries, dried and crushed and made into a decoction, eases diarrhea and dysentery, kidney inflammations and disorders. See Cautions. The young hawthorne leaves can be used as a safe, and non-nicotine tobacco substitute for those who desire to quite smoking. Enhance the flavor and help heal the throat by adding yarrow, mint, coltsfoot or mullein. Chewing the hawthorne leaf has been known for centuries as a safe way to give nourishment, revive energy, and a feeling of well-being. That is why it can be used to treat those who have problems with apprehension, insomnia and despondency. Chewing hawthorne leaves takes away that "tummy grumble" when you"re hungry. That is why the hawthorne became known as the "bread and cheese" tree, giving as much sustenance as a plate of bread and cheese. The hawthorne leaf-buds are good cooked (10 to 20 minutes) and have a similar taste to lima beans. They make a great addition to chilis and soups. You can make jellies and fruit sauces from the berries, just make sure you strain the sauce. Hawthorne berries contain their own pectin so the sauce or jelly will thicken nicely. Hawthorne flowers are edible and make an attractive addition to salads and other dishes. Hawthorne seeds can be roasted and used in a manner similar to coffee. Cautions Hawthorne is a very powerful herb and in most cases should be taken along with other herbs rather than by itself for medicinal purposes. When dealing with medical conditions, I recommend consultation with a medical professional rather than attempting self-medication. Other Uses Hawthorne wood is fine grained and works well for artist renditions with inlays and delicate carvings. The root wood is finer still and suitable for making boxes and combs. Hawthorne wood is more prized than oak wood for wood fires, as it burns very hot. A hawthorne wood fire can produce fire that can melt pig iron. Hawthorne hedgerow is still very evident in Britain and parts of Germany, used as a fence to keep cattle in and people out of private properties. Hedgerow makes a great security fence.
That is a sweet and peaceful photo John posted of himself. I'm not on Instagram, so thanks to those who track these things. I have to say that the power lines in New England are very close together like that, and we did have a partially sunny day today. Although at around 1:30pm or so.... it went cloudy and began to sprinkle. This is quite the treasure hunt.... guessing game for all of us, isn't it? HGTV sure knows how to keep our attention. Good luck to the winner... whoever you are or may be sometime soon! What a dream come true!
