i hear it. listen: i'm not against what you want in any way, i just want to be able to do my job 100%. it's hard when your head is ringing. i understand that there is noise in an aircraft manufacturing plant. this noise, though, is superfluous to the natural noisy aircraft build process. and i shouldn't need earplugs when i'm sitting 40 ft away from a final assy airplane. i am not complaining about your cause, just the fact that i can't do mine. i support everything you want, i just don't agree with the excessive noise in which you express your distaste. have some decency for your fellow workers who can't help your cause. either way, good luck. i hope no one has to strike. and i obtained earplugs if/as required to perform the following rework...

man, no need to be rude. just read all the other posts. i already stated many people have gone to management. i just want it to simply stop. all of us on the floor are supposed to be working together like a big happy family. the machinists are acting like the annoying little brother. we're on your side, but you are making it unbearable for those who are working with you. again, we can't do anything about it! and the execs thing, lets be realistic here: you, by yourself, are expendable to boeing, while on the other hand jim is not. i never said how good of a job they are doing .and i never said that boeing doesn't need us as a whole and that negotiations should stop. i was only stating that complaining about the execs is a lost cause. if you read about 5 posts down, you'll see the continuation of this whole conversation.

dude, did you even read the comments about the legos? it was describing how 787 is an assembly and not built like the 747 is. there was never a comment on this entire board where someone said, "hey, lets build a plane out of legos."

so i have to wear hearing protection all day at work because you feel like acting like child? you act like i know when you'll be making the noises. hey, let me put in my ear plugs right now while discussing a repair with a colleague . there's no reason to have that type of behavior. you can threat to strike, you can have your marches, you can form your picket lines, but quit making working horrible for your fellow employees who can't do anything about it.

i'm on the side that everyone needs more money , but people don't have to make it a harsher environment, by blowing horns all day long, for those who can't do anything about it. save it for the picket lines and stop acting like 2 yr olds.

ugh, please learn how to comprehend reading. you obviously took the lego comment way out of context. a ton of parts come from a supplier, right? then it gets put together here, right? that's called an assembly, not building. 747, now that's building. no shit it's a more complicated process, but the general method is obtain parts and assemble here. Legos: obtain parts and assemble. you don't make the lego pieces then put them together do ya? no, that'd be ridiculous. i never said the airplane just snaps together, either. any moron knows it's more complicated than that. i can see where you got confused, seeing that you can't read or write. some of you people are frustrating.

a) well, i never said that there isn't any work to do. b) i said there is a new method called assembly, not that we don't build planes. c) i'm pretty sure i even mentioned that we build the 67, and if it goes, we will be building less, so i obviously know there are other planes. d) 777 has numerous parts brought in by suppliers. that's 87ish. e) i wasn't trying to underscore what machinists do, i was just stating the sad fact that boeing has already started the out sourcing process. i think you should read before you write. your education level is showing. nothing personal.

their egos? what's with the insult? i work hard every day , OT everyday, to correct the mistakes machinsts make. we have to make sure the plane conforms to all requirements, so it's safe for your family to fly. we have to fix per spec, not just to get it done. if you mistake that for ego problems, then you are in left field. there's no doubt that what you do is important but do not act like we walk around with egos looking to kick you down. don't drag speea into this.

well, not trying to rain on your parade, but there's a new method now to building planes. look at 787. majority of the parts are now coming in from different suppliers. 787 guys are more so assembling than building. it's like legos. unfortunately, if the 67 goes, then there will be even less building. and just as a quick side, i just had to walk onto the plane, and there were 4 guys taking a siesta in the back. haha, ironic? no hate, just love

i don' t know what planet you live on, but it's obviously not here. i never said you didn't deserve more. you should be compensated well for all the requirements and situations you have to work. compared to everyone else making minimum wage and most of the states paying double than what we do for benefits, it's not that bad. i know more people that are in worst situations. plus, i can't stay out of it when you disrupt my work. so if you want me to stay out of it, be respectful to your fellow employees. please read the whole post, not just the 1st line.

i seriously laughed when i read the chowder head comment. haven't heard that one for a while, i'll have to use that. your noise making does not help me at all. i'm a speea guy, so it's different. and i've said things to managers but they won't do anything b/c they know, if they tell you to stop, you'll just do it more. i'm asking as a fellow employee to tone it down a notch. i take every repair and see it as my family will be flying on this too, and there's times when many cannot make clear choices. now it makes it our family flying on the plane and b/c of the ringing in my head, i give a wacked out repair. i'm trying to be reasonable about it and i'm pretty sure you are whining right now, right?

yes, some of them have but most of them have not. i know machinists who've been working here for years sleeping with fellow co-workers. some people even get married! wow. their's a difference between affairs and relationships, but either way that doesn't pertain to the matter. they went and got their job. you went and got your job. don't complain about how much they make; why didn't you go for that job? you could say you wouldn't like doing that job, but that was your choice and with that comes lesser pay. it comes down to, they are in charge. i agree that some make too much, but you aren't going to change that. just like no one changing members of congress giving themselves pay raises. if you want the execs to make less, it has to start with the government. again, i'm not against you all making more, they just aren't going to make less. bottom line. i didn't mind the march yesterday, but consistently making inappropriate noises multiple times a day is not necessary to gauge solidarity. the march does. but the noise making does not. who hears your noise? if i was an exec and heard about your inappropriate noise making, i'd use that against you. it's only a deterrent. there's no way any of them care about you making excessive noise, so just knock it off.

i don't really know enough about the situation, but i do know you are making great money and have excellent benefits. i'm not against what you want, but quit acting like children. every day you guys blast airplane horns, noise makers, etc, on purpose b/c of this. i have to sit right next to the airplane and have accepted that there will be some sound to the aircraft building process. but this blatant circus of ruckus is inappropriate, annoying, childish, etc. you are making this place hell for people who can't do shit about your "problem". you may feel you are making a point, but it's not. the people who determine your salary do not sit inside, on the floor of the factory. and anyone who can control it is in a nice cozy office or in chicago and can't hear a lick of what you are doing. you are making this an unhealthy working environment. have your marches, have your picket lines at the hotels, but don't bring your pouting to work. i'm working my butt off too, so just grow up. you're acting like a kid who's being told to finish his greens. just as percheron stated, its going to get to a point where they won't be making anymore planes here b/c costs are to high. also, you've mentioned these execs who make millions, and yeah, maybe they make more than they should, but if it wasn't for them, neither of us would have jobs. we are more replaceable than they are. it takes a certain mind to run a multi-billion corporation.and i don't really think the exes are sleeping with their secretaries, esp if he's makin millions. it really sounds like you're jealous, teabag. you know what you signed up for guys...make you point but not to people who can't make change.
