Hi. I unlocked my 3G with PwnageTool and all seemed fine. New baseband, no carrier listed... I put in my ATT sim and it worked fine, but I didn't try it with another carrier's sim. Now in Italy the phone won't activate with a Vodafone sim. Any ideas about what I can do?

I have an iPhone 3G, 4.2.1, 05.14.04. Trying to jailbreak and upgrade baseband with redsn0w 9.6rc18. redsn0w crashes right after entering DFU mode. Do I need to jailbreak first, then upgrade the baseband? My goal is to unlock.
