I don't mean any disrespect, but are you attempting to correlate the advancement of science and technology made by the hand of government? As an inventor and entrepreneur, by no means is government guiding my creative process or vision. I can say the same for many others. I'm confused by this article. I want to applaud with you that we're moving forward in the world with technology and science, but neither religion or government plays a role in the organic decision making of an individual to dive into creating a new technology or scientific theory.

I simply think the more they fight, the less they pass. Government has the ultimate monopoly on force. How would folks on the left think if government worked together to pass a global abortion ban? How would those on the right think if they banned the bible globally? Having gridlock is a good thing. You simply cannot erase a law. You must pass a law voiding the previous one. When you start giving money away from the treasury for votes, it's not longer a working government. So, let the gridlock begin and let's find a balanced budget.

I love gridlock. The more the parties are polarized and fighting, the less laws they pass that'll affect my life. No joke.

I'll agree with you on this one. I said before that rails between locations that do not get much traffic wouldn't make economic sense. You would have to replace existing rail systems that do have high use and can make a return on investment. The big question is how long it'll take to get the return based on the amount of money spent? California is broke. Simply creating a high speed rail doesn't solve the unemployment issue for the long term. The goal would need to be scoped and reasonable. Good article.

Interesting, "Separation of Church and State" does not exist in the US constitution. It doesn't mean you cannot exercise it on public property or while in office to influence your decision making such as JFK. It means that the public office cannot choose one religion over another.

Looks like Brown has to make the cuts because he can't borrow it from the Federal Gov't like Arnold. It's also funny that the governor puts tax increases to the vote of the public (which most will fail approval) instead of standing behind it himself. Even if he cuts programs that are politically unpopular to his base, they'll still vote for him. He can cut spending, balance the budget, and still get re-elected. It's a win win for him.

Thanks for that info. Even if that would have passed, it would be challenged and possibly thrown out at the Supreme Court.

This is another example why I think all politicians are evil. As for Obama, he believes that gov't is the solution to any problem. That's why I don't care for him.
